They tap into the power harness under the car.yes ! I had to tow it to the dealer. There must be a trick to opening it but I don’t find it even looked online .
Cigarette lighter used to be a good way to back feed power because it was a heavy circuit. Now a days, most cars don't have those anymore. Still, I can think of a bunch of ways to power up a car without access to the battery. They tap into the power harness under the car.

I forget what kind of car it was, Volvo, maybe a Volkswagon, but a friend of my dads changed out the battery for their kids car and then had to have it towed to a dealership because the cars anti theft system thought it was being stolen and had to be unlocked. They try really hard to make sure we are not able to work on anything new.
There are relays isolating these loads now.Cigarette lighter used to be a good way to back feed power because it was a heavy circuit. Now a days, most cars don't have those anymore. Still, I can think of a bunch of ways to power up a car without access to the battery.

Forgot about the relays, but I would not have stopped there. Pull a hot fuse, radio memory or something. Would say pull a brake light bulb, but this was about getting in the trunk. Dome light is always hot, so........There are relays isolating these loads now.
Push it on the lift. Up in the air. Ground on the engine and put power on the starter. Bingo. Direct connection to the battery.
Just some info on the Northstar.Forgot about the relays, but I would not have stopped there. Pull a hot fuse, radio memory or something. Would say pull a brake light bulb, but this was about getting in the trunk. Dome light is always hot, so........
Usually it is only two or three bolts and the back seat will pop out. Have done this with a few cars, and then you have access to pop the trunk from the inside.
I had an Eldorado where the starter was underneath the intake manifold. Somewhere out there is an engineer that I would really, really like to meet.
Used to spend the day in the spring/summer at my aunt and uncles property, fishing the lake and later, hunting squirrels in the woods. Helping weed their garden which to this day, still the best sweet corn ever.Spending a couple weeks every summer at my Grandparents place in Ky. Four room shack with a coal stove, outhouse and party line phone. Could get two fuzzy channels on the b&w tv. Spent the days hiking in the hills and helping in the garden. Simpler times back then.
Five years since my Pops passed on. Sure miss the guy.
Every now and then, I think about things forgetting he is not physically present.
Example:
I was not able to get out much last deer season. I thought I was going to get skunked.
On the last day of gun season I was blessed with a buck that walked out of a tree line on the opposite side of a field I was hunting. I estimate it to be the longest shot I've taken on an Indiana deer. That, along with the good chance of going scratch had my adrenaline pumping like a boy on one of his early hunts.
I pressed a round and the buck kicked up on his rear legs like a fighting stallion. I saw him take flight back into the woods.....and drop about 30 feet in. In that moment, what went through my mind was "Wait until I tell Dad about this......". followed by, "damn". No doubt he knows any how.
I am one of what seems to be an increasingly rare group. A man who was raised by a great Dad along with a great Mom that taught me the value of things that may seem intangible in the short run...and are invaluable in the long.
Thanks for all you did and continue to do, Dad.
Lost my dad in '98 and still miss him every day. Lately he's been in my dreams a lot. Never right out in front of me (in the dream)... just more like a "presence". Like he's looking over my shoulder or something. Hard to explain it.Five years since my Pops passed on. Sure miss the guy.

Yeah, my grandfather started making appearances beginning June of 2014.Lost my dad in '98 and still miss him every day. Lately he's been in my dreams a lot. For me, "appearances" isn't really the term I'm looking for (although it would be great to "see" him again, even if only in the dreams). It's just a feeling I get, and it sticks with me after waking, like, "Dad was there." I just know it, feel it, and believe it.Yeah, my grandfather started making appearances beginning June of 2014.
