I have always thought that you were white.

    Are you black? A POC?

Or, are you acting as a mouthpiece tor that group?

If you are white, you are doing a terrible job of sitting down and shutting up.

    haha

Well, I think those protesting would say that they've spent years asking nicely to be heard, without much result. So now they're being more direct. ;)

And that is no reason to burn down anything.

You don't know any of them, do you?

I don't personally know any feckless, white-guilt riddled malcontents, and for that I am thankful. But I'm pretty sure that I know the type well enough to not want to make their acquaintance.

Black people at these protests are legit. But as someone once said, white people need to sit down and STFU.

I am not sure that I can call a Nationwide Protest over the murder of one black man by one bad cop legitimate.

    See the meme above.

I think, at a certain level, the protests transcend race. It gets back to some of the ideas that created this country - liberty and justice for all. People of all color can support the idea that people of all color should be treated fairly, with a couple particular "colors" not really getting the same level of fairness overall.

I tend to be someone who sees a problem and tries to fix it. These protests have provided some personally humbling moments when I, myself, have sat down and shut up and not tried to explain what needs to be fixed. I'm happy to be part of whatever the solution looks like (because, frankly, some TERRIBLE solutions have been floated), but I'm not really in a position to speak with any eloquence or insight into what the practical problems are.

Not that you and I get to decide such things, but a label different than "systemic racism" would probably be helpful for the people seeking to change things.

One issue with what you posted (since this is INGO, I can skip all the parts we agree on) ;) is the idea that some of the behaviors you list (saggy pants, certain mannerisms and speech patterns) are very specific to modern "black" culture. It is so intrinsically a part of that culture that one cannot separate it. (I omitted rap because, well, there's commercialism and appealing to the broader market of white people. And I like good rap.)

For me, and likely you, the conversations about this have been very much a give-and-take, with a great deal of common ground (after some initial friction sometimes). There's no rebuttal for some of this, though. At least not now. Discussion over changes that might be appropriate or those things, sure. But there's no real rebuttal to an emotional position.

Saggy britches aren't limited to blacks, at least not down here. Lots of white "urban youths" with their pants around their thighs. Am I wrong to want to sneak up behind them and give them a good shove just to watch them get tangled up in their pants and do a face plant? ;)

I have had and have amicable relationships with many shades of humanity.

The shade of the human never came into the equation.

I have had less than amicable relationships with many shades of humanity.

The shade again has nothing to do with it.

In the Army I was in the All American Division. I was in the Infantry at the start and in what may have been the most culturally diverse Company in the US Military. You either got along or the Unit not able to function.

I have worked with all shades of humanity for around 36 years since and I don't believe I ever PREjudged anyone. The only people I hate are lazy people. and I have met more very light lazy people than any other shade.

Honest question. Why is all of this about race and racism? Was Derek Chauvin a known racist and the system allowed this to happen? Or, was George Floyd’s homicide hijacked for an agenda?

It isn't really an either/or is it?

Chauvin, according to multiple accounts, may have had racial biases. Would that matter? No, not IMHO.

George Floyd's death was a very visible, recorded with great detail, extreme event that has become the focal point of some bigger issues.

There's nothing inherently wrong with that.

The Boston Tea Party wasn't really about tea, either.

It is funny how the quest of the American for representation in Parliament is always brought up.

Seems to me that black people ARE represented in all levels of Government.

And Bu the way, peaceful protest for redress of grievance is great.

We are dealing with a homicide. All the cops were fired almost immediately. They have all been charged in the death. Where is the racism?

From the moment this happened, the narrative has been “systemic racism”. Where is the racism?

We could cater to every demand that BLM demands and theyll still be ****ing up their own neighborhoods and killing each other in greater numbers than the cops or any "white man" has done.
They need to police their own first

The answers you seek are out there. Instead of googling it, though, maybe talk with some of the people involved. It might help you understand what the protesters are talking about.

Relying on the MSM is fraught with the usual problems.
