      Cz Kadet question?

Hopefully your experience with emailing CZ is better than mine. For me they were the exact opposite of Greg...I never got a response.

      Cz Kadet question?

Try emailing Greg and asking him. He's extremely responsive and knowledgeable in my experience.

Romeo 1 Optic On Sig 320c

Point of clarification...I don't zero my red dot by slaving to the irons. I zero at 15 yards independently of the irons. I shoot and make adjustments to the dot until my point of aim aligns with my point of impact. But when I align the irons with my eye, that yields the sight picture that you...

Romeo 1 Optic On Sig 320c

If your irons and the optic are both properly zeroed to the same point of impact, when you visually align the irons the dot is going to be in alignment with the irons as well. It has to be. However, because the optic has very minimal parallax, you can make hits simply by visually placing the...

Romeo 1 Optic On Sig 320c

I have some quibbles with the Romeo 1, but none of them are the reasons you mentioned. I'm not sure what you mean by "small MOA and large reticle". Is yours a 3 moa or 6 moa dot? Either way, neither is a particularly large dot, and either is more than acceptable for combat accuracy with a...

      Shadow 2 ammo issues

Agreed. As would a Beretta or a Gen 3 or Gen 4 Glock. The Gen 5s have tighter throats. A 9mm Barsto conversion barrel I once had was pretty picky, too.

      The "Sig"ness- vol 1.

Yeah, the P225A1 is basically a P239 with a different grip. It even uses P239 mags with a different baseplate. The original P225/P6 is a different design. I'd kinda agree that there's not much reason to have both, unless you're looking to collect them all. My P239 was an impulse buy at an...

      Shadow 2 ammo issues

This is the answer, CZs have notoriously tight chamber throats. The ogive on some bullets bottoms out in the lands. OAL alone will tell you nothing, you need to plunk test your rounds and seat the to the appropriate depth for your specific chamber.

      The "Sig"ness- vol 1.

I missed out on a lot of surplus deals as a broke college kid, but thankfully I did snag that one. It was the second handgun I ever bought, and I actually carried it for a few years because it was way easier to conceal than a full-size 92FS.

      CMP

It's not a replica receiver, but one of my CMP rifles is a "Special Rack" grade. Refinished Springfield receiver (actually kind of a cool one...six-digit and lead-dipped...you can still see the lead line through the re-park) with a CMP wood stock and a new Criterion barrel. I thought it was a...

      The "Sig"ness- vol 1.

Sorry to disappoint. No heel release, and no .38 Super. It's just a P6 with a Factory P225 Hammer, P225 barrel (to get it to feed JHP), Sig SRT kit, and a Grayguns hammer strut to fix the insanely heavy factory P6 trigger pull. I still have all the original parts so it could easily go back to...

      CMP

I agree, but I think that ship has sailed. The inventory is too depleted at this point for the limits to do any good. It does sicken me to see people flipping them for 2-3x what I know they paid on gunbroker and at gun shows, as it totally flies in the face of the purpose of the program. I...

      The "Sig"ness- vol 1.

This thread needs revived. The CZ guys are putting us to shame. Finally got everything back together and working again, figured it was time for a family pic:

My Brand New Taurus 856 Defender

It was a surplus import gun that had the problem when I got it. It has clearly been shot quite a bit and was pretty worn out. Correct. I'm sure they can. I've never personally seen it happen, but if it was going to happen on any gun, it would have been this one. A knowledgeable member over on...

Summary of my recent 'cheap gun' purchases.

Just do it. You know you want to! :stickpoke:;). One comment I will make about your ammo as part of the cost analysis: yes, it is a line-item expense. But it can be a productive expense. I spent a lot of time, money, and ammo getting my P228 running. The money for the replacement parts I won't...

My Brand New Taurus 856 Defender

Good deal, glad you found the right combination to make it work reliably with a decent trigger pull. Coincidentally, I finally exorcised some light-strike demons of my own today in a surplus P228. It has been giving me fits with all sorts of ammo, and I tried a number of extra-power...

      Retirement Range Report #2

I clean my .22 suppressor after every range session to keep it from seizing up. So far that approach has been effective. I pre-treat the stainless steel baffles with silicon oil (DOT5 brake fluid). Typically, the crud just wipes off if I've been shooting rifle because the barrels are long enough...

      Need new EDC

If you're a Glock guy, it's hard to wrong with a G19 or G26. I am a big fan of the G26, and would probably chose that one for it's marginally better concealability and versatility. The G19 offers a longer grip (G26 can make that up with mag extensions) and a longer sight-radius (immaterial if...

      Needing Garand advice dead trigger

I'll bet that fixes it, but I'll be watching with interest. Be sure to keep us posted. Hopefully you're back up and running on Monday. I had to replace a hammer and trigger on my first CMP Garand because it was worn and occasionally doubling...not fun with a cartridge with the recoil of the...

Thinking about purchasing a AR style 12 gauge.

Had a guy bring one of those Turkish AR-style shotguns to training once. He took it out of his car and couldn't figure out how to get it into battery. Then it malfunctioned several times. I could have fired 6 rounds from my 870, reloaded, and fired 6 more in the time it took him to get through a...
