OK, just happened across a set of C4 L98 Aluminum heads, .030 over pistons with a 18cc dish. How bad would this be? I know the L98 heads are 1.95/1.50 valves and about a 165cc intake with 58cc chambers. But with a decent set of springs and good cam should this combo still make my area of power (350ish) on pump gas? The reason I ask is I can get all for about $200 from a known source/good person/actual history.

I do not have my compression info in front of me but you should be able to make that level of power no worries.

IIRC, the 88-90 L98 head was what was used on hte ZZ4 crate engine and it made 340/350 IIRC. besides, at this price (price of a set of pistons and rings) if I don't like the power curve or I feel they're limiting me I can sell them for what I paid for them and still get the heads I was about to order.

I was originally looking at the Comp Cams CCA-08-502-8. .495/.503 lift, 269/276 ad, 218/224 at .050 112LSA. Should I go with a little more cam? Maybe the next step up to 502/510 lift, 110lsa 224/230 @050?

You dont see these everyday for sale. Seems a bit high to me, especially without the engine.

1st that is not a Formula 1 car.....****ing hilarious. Scot Braton was the driver. Not Brandon. Yes that car was raced. Obvious the current owner has zero knowledge of the car/series it ran.
$40K is ridiculous. If it was a race ready chassis that would be reasonable.

$2000 conversation piece to hang in a bar or really cool man cave.

Remember the limitations of the 1.95 intakes and 1.50 exhaust. They will fall short as you exceed 6K on the tach.
We have achieved north of 400 at the crank with the XE 268 hyd. offering from Comp with the 1.94 open chamber heads and flat tops. It comes on hard and rolls solid to 5850. Works perfectly with the heads you are going to use. I know people who turn them up a bit tighter but they still seem to loose steam at 6K. Plus pushing the rods/pistons past this point regularly might not be the best idea either.

There is a solid following for these cars. Rolex racers buy them up and pay folks to rebuild and maintain them. % to 6 times a summer they will take them to a nostalgia event and run the dog crap out of them. Beat them up/crash them and then pay those same guys to rebuild them again. It is a lucrative business for older race mechanics that do not want the grind of a seasonal schedule. Pays well also.

I'm thinking with these heads 6k would be maxed out anyway

Thats my experience. The world products cast heads or the Dart offerings will let you run to a point that the reciprocating assembly is in peril.

Match up a proper manifold. The Stealth works very well across the power band. JMHO.

Hey BZ, what's the deal with "DragCross"? Never heard of it and can't find anything other than Indy region has some scheduled in the upcoming months.

So drag cross is a hoot. We have a full sportsman tree. A left course and a right course. Each "pass" is actually a combination of one run on each course. There's a shootout with the top 16 cars, a trophy fpr lowest ET etc. It's straight up, head to head. It's a great time. I just don't trust the truck for something that "rigorous" just yet. I will be up Sunday for the normal event.

part of the package that I have available is a performer intake to go with the heads. Would that be any better?

Yes. That would be perfect actually if it Is the Performer RPM..??

You need the RPM as the regular Performer is the same stats as the one you already have.
