The liberals at the Des Moines Register fouling up the final poll was perhaps a leading indicator.
That headline.
Republicans gloat over Iowa caucus meltdown - CBS News
Shouldn't it be "Democrats **** up caucus"? Nah, gotta do the Republicans pounce! angle.
The Iowa Caucus was a favorite thing of mine as an Iowan. I would have totally swapped to 'D' for a night to go stir sh*t and caucus for Bernie last night had I not moved to Indiana.
It's old school democracy. In 2016, we showed up, said a prayer, a pledge, and all ten candidates had a surrogate speak. Sometimes, you get actually get the candidate to speak. We happened to have Ted Cruz in our area. This is fun because the top-tier and well-organized candidates put on a good show, but the lesser guys were pretty interesting. Then we all listened to the plug for the local candidates, were told where the hat was to throw money, and then the voting began. We were all given a post-it note to write down our vote and then we passed it to the center aisle and went on our way.
The GOP doesn't do the screwy first count, second count, second choice thing. 2016 left a lot of pissed off D's because the thing was ran by the Hillary folks and lots of people thought big Bernie crowds were producing more delegates for HRC and nobody took a headcount. They spent 4 years planning this Iowa Caucus that was supposed to be amazing and hi tech. They originally wanted everyone to get an app, which would instantly eliminate the Biden Boomer crowd. I spent enough time in Des Moines to not be surprised by the outcome of the caucus. The liberals at the Des Moines Register fouling up the final poll was perhaps a leading indicator.
I believe the "punishment" for Iowa is that they will no longer be the first primary in the nation and be forced to move back to Super Tuesday. It's ridiculous to spend so much money on a state with half the number of people that we have in Indiana.
Bye, Felicia.
Latest news I have:
The data collection was accurate. There was a code error in the final tally reporting. Best results I have at this point: Sanders 27%, Warren 25%, Buttigieg 23%.
I'd be happy with blocs of states voting on a few different days. The present process is too unweildy.
He's got lots of baggage with Hunter. It may have been legal but the optics are horrendous. Time for Joe to retire.
Anyway, Klob, Butt and Mini-Mike are a lot more exciting and will produce a better convention. Joe is over the hill. If Iowa doesn't prove it, I expect New Hampshire will.
As to the socialists, Bernie and Liz, no middle of the pack democrat is going to go along with M4all and reparations*. Buh bye.
*excludes Issei and Nisei interned during WWII. These are actual citizens who lost property and income as a result of actions taken as authorized by Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s issuance of Executive Order 9066. They should be fully compensated.
I have to wonder if this is some sort of DNC night of the long knives to rid themselves of things they feel are impediments; like Bernie, the caucuses and any pretense of democracy
No Joe? The Iowa Caucus has a mixed history of predicting the eventual candidate, but could it make the Democrats ripe for Bloomberg to sweep in and "save" the Dems from these three unelectable (in their eyes) loons?
