I was reading through some old threads last weekend, from 2011ish... seemed people got shootered pretty easily back then. I’m glad that kinda calmed down and we are allowed to disagree and have more heated debates, which usually fizzle out on their own without needing a thread being locked or someone being shootered... I’m also glad they lock a thread before shootering someone... usually... unless it involves this one guy:):

So I think it's pretty funny listening to the accusations about President Trump destroying the Republic and discarding the constitution. Not the case at all. I'm just like, were people in a socialists coma for 8 years or what?!

Trump being elected actualy saved the Republic and his supreme court appointments will secure constitutional law for another generation hopefully. Read the history of this nation and it's clear that right now we are at a pivotal point in its future. We must safeguard our system of laws and the foundation of this Republoc from the Democrats who are intentionaly trying to destroy it and build their own socialist or Marxist utopia.
The congressional Republican leaders are retiring for a reason, they are part of the same swamp the left is. We need to toss out the RINO's and make sure Republicans who will defend the constitution and work with the President are elected into leadership roles.
The Democrats are gonna get a huge ass whoopin this November .

I hope we can save the Republic. The dumocraps are obstructing the government so much it is difficult to do anything. They should be in prison for what they are doing. It is illegal to obstruct the police in carrying out their duties why isn't it illegal to obstruct the United States Government in carrying out their duties?

First, let's note that the Democrats, regardless of one's opinion of them, ARE part of the United States government. But to answer your question...
...Because the founders intentionally put in the constitution a default antagonistic government (i.e. separation of powers/checks and balances). I think it the system most preferable, because no one want a government, whichever party is in power, that can pass whatever it wants with no opposition. I'm fairly sure many a conservative was thankful that Republicans, by the idea you seem to be presenting, obstructed many of Obama's intentions, no?

Yup. It was a bit more crazy in 2011 than it is now. Also the staff has changed around just a bit.
Personally I hate to shooter anybody. Every voice is a part of the fabric. But, well, you know.

OK. I have avoided this thread for this very reason. Again, I hate to shooter anyone but it might be coming soon to a thread near you.
I just read back a day or so and people, get over it. The very next person that calls anyone a dick will ride the hammer. Period.
I have called my friends (and yes I do actually have a few) names in jest on the forum. I have received the same in return. What I am reading is not at the least funny. This is not me laughing.
I care not who you are. Do it again and I will put you in the corner. How long is up to you. Please do not test me. The loss of any regular posting member is not something I enjoy.

Carry on. In a civil manner. If you guys keep up the baby crap we will loose the ability to have these discussions. Your call.

Come one Kut. Situations like that gave us Obamacare and the Patriot Act, oh wait.

No, you have it wrong. I'm not talking about opposition or balance of powers or any of the normal good negotiations that have always gone on in our government. I'm talking about crude obstruction at a level that has never been seen before in the United States. They are forcing 30 hours of debate for each nomination before even voting on them. There are hundreds of nominations held up by this abuse.

Congress is in session about 1500 hours per year, this is a big variable so that is an approximate number. So for just a fraction of the nominations, say100 nominations, that means 3000 hours of debate demanded by dumocraps. That is about two years of session time wasted. So they are willing to obstruct the United States Government from working just to be complete *******s. This abuse is hurting our country and is despicable and should be criminal. You don't hear about this from the biased media.

"In addition to blocking the President’s nominees, Senator Chuck Schumer and the Democrats are using the nomination process as a weapon to impede other Senate business. Democrats are forcing cloture votes—which require 30 hours of debate time on the Senate floor—at an unprecedented rate. They have forced more cloture votes on the President’s nominees in just his first year in office than for the first terms of the last of the last four presidents combined. The Senate confirmed hundreds more of President Obama’s and President Clinton’s nominees than President Trump’s."

"Even non-controversial nominees who are unanimously or overwhelmingly supported have been subject to 30 hours of debate because of this cynical stall tactic. Jerome Powell, nominee to be Chairman of the Federal Reserve, was ultimately confirmed by a vote of 84-13 following a forced cloture vote. Four recent nominees for district judgeships originally subject to cloture were later confirmed by the Senate unanimously."

"This is a deliberate tactic to slow down the work of Congress and stall the business of the American people."
