    Not far from the tree
The wife’s X-Ring got an upgrade tonight, Kidd 18” Diamond fluted matte black barrel.

The TacSol barrel has been a great shooter, but the lightweight aspect gives it no resistance to any small movements. So something a bit heavier was in order. The Kidd barrel is 3lbs, it alone weighs more than the TacSol barrel, receiver and trigger pack. It’s a huge change, but a good one. It’s a bit nose heavy now, but when you lift it up it just sits still. The stability is greatly increased.

Installing it took some effort though. Wow is that a tight fit. The TacSol barrel just slid right out, we’ll just say the Kidd didn’t go back in quite that nicely.

It has better shoot as nice it looks now! :D

Can of liquid butane. Squirt the barrel end for a bit and let the butane evaporate. Heat gun on the rcvr and it oughta slide right in. Tolerances do vary.

That would have been really useful 3 hours ago. lol :): Oh well, we got it there.

    I hope it's a shooter. I ordered the same barrel without flutes.:D

Not sure if it was on Kidd's site or another maker's but I read you should heat the receiver with a hairdryer to install their barrels.

I intended to do a matte black barrel in 20”. I was overruled because pretty. She was right, pretty was a good choice for this one.

I didn’t see it on Kidd’s. They recommended a rubber mallet and some anti-serve. I mean it worked, but the hairdryer seems like an easier route.

To late for you but it might help someone else.

This is not what I saw earlier, but in the 2nd half of this video (buried on their website) they call for the receiver to be put in a 250° oven to open it up .001"-.0015" if needed.

Wonder how the receivers with anodized finishes hold up to the oven.

    She will love it!

I want her to shoot the lightweight 10/22 though. A proof of theory, the goal is one light enough that anyone can run it without issue.

She is really wanting to get more involved especially after seeing the ladies kick ass at the SGE. It was most inspirational for her.
