Not all the way.

You can take the south shore train from Hammond, EC, or Gary and the last stop would be millennium station.

You would then have to get on the CTA 151 route to get to the zoo area.

Dad moved Marbelhead, MA in his teens for a few years then back to Cincinnati. Grandpa was an engineer at GE and got moved for a stint. He did some lobster fishing and had a female classmate sell them to tourists by the airport.

The zoo foes have a parking lot.
$30 to $40 for the day.


South shore 2 way will be $14 from EC.
Cta buss ride 2 ways will be $5.
Cta is CASH only unless u have their transit card. South shorte is CASH only on train + $1 cash fee on train.

Or pay via credit card at the kiosk at the train no cash fee.
So $20 plus some walking and waiting for buses/trains.

Trip via car from Hammond, not sure where you are at, is say 4 gallons so $16 in gas + $35 parking is $51.

Note DO NOT go over 28 mph of the posted speed limit on the highway as IL has a new speeding law where over 28 is a nice big fine and a misdemeanor charge. IL state trooper love WI and IN plates to pull over.

Also get waze (app) on phone to know where the stupid red light camera and speeding cameras are at in the city. The city loves those "robot" tickets.
