I would recommend a Marlin 795 .22LR. I already owned 2 Marlin rifles, a 25 and a 60, when I bought this one two years ago. and the 795 is my favorite. Someday, Get an AR-15. You can trick 'em out however you like, BIG BOOM, no recoil. But that ammo costs more than 22LR.

I would consider a 9mm AR-15, and a 9mm Glock handgun. That way you are using the same caliber for both. Between those 2 guns, you should be set for a home defense set-up. :twocents:

Damm. Now you have me thinking about a 9mm AR. Not for home defense.
Like my "want list" wasn't big enough.

Sorry, it is an addiction. I have a 9mm RRA,( actually the wife's) it is nice. There is also one currently running in the classifieds, if I remember it has never been fired or fired very little. I think he is asking 900$ for it. Not a bad price to start from, give it a few more months and guys will be wishing they had spent 900 on one instead of 1400, as we get closer to Nov. you will see the "scare" set in.
