The sign is in Comic Sans. Am I really suppose to give it any credence?

And for all I know, someone taped it up there to take a picture and post it on the internet.

Wait, I thought doctors were dumb because they were parroting the CDC. But now you believe doctors because they are confirming what you believe.

In other words, 99 doctors say get vaccinated, but you're following the one that says "don't do it" as "educated far greater than I".

Except they didn't say don't do it. They are simply giving out information to let people make the most informed choice

Maybe it’s real. Maybe it’s mot. But, c’mon. The font is what makes you doubt it? Seriously?

The sign on the door at my dentist’s office that tells me I have to wear a mask is printed in comic sans. I have a cleaning coming up in a few weeks. Should I tell them that I don’t think their sign is legit? Because some guy on the internet told me that real signs aren’t printed in comic sans.

As ridiculous as Comic Sans looks (to me at least) there are numerous studies indicating it's one of the best fonts for readability, especially for those with issues like dyslexia.

Having said all that, the sign is useless for conversation here. Just as the point everyone on all sides has made numerous times, one person or group saying something doesn't necessarily mean anything and we can all always find something to discredit something else.

That's one example of a Doctor saying something, but it's not the only example of a Doctor saying something like that. The Pfizer documentation that was recently released had over 1500 known side effects from their jab. I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing more signs like this in the future (perhaps with a more professional font though).

Mostly blue, some yellow, no orange or red. It means the spread has slowed to almost nothing, comparatively. I am expecting at or near 100% blue next week.

If we look at ICU beds, under 20% are available, but that is deceiving since of 75% are non-Covid and only 4.7% are Covid, and that's the lowest since last July. We are not quite at the low levels we were then, but it is coming and this time, given the fact that more people have recently had the Covid, I expect any future "surges" to be be more akin to seasonal flus.

Also, Omicron is listed as 100% of the cases. That is a really good thing given how comparatively mild it is. Again, eradication was never in the cards, but, through multiple means, having "just another flu" that is treatable is the path out.

I'm about ready to call this thing.

Once again, looking good. I was more than half expecting all blue, but pretty good. It looks like Fulton and Cass took a bit of a step back these week as they appear to be the only counties that were blue last week and yellow this week, but a bunch that were yellow are now blue.

A few other notables- Covid ICU is really low at 3.3%, but ICUs are heavily used for other purposes. .9% of ventilators are in use for Covid, but the ventilator shortage never materialized...and seemed to be only the last stop before death, not a treatment, anyway.

Interestingly, Delta is still out there. Last week, Omicron was at 100%. This week, it is at 99.7% and Delta is at .3%. It probably doesn't matter.

Hospital census for Covid pts. is near the low level they were last July when we had the lowest case numbers of the last 2 years.

All this before the summer when (as expected) all the rates of spread and positivity and hospitalizations should go down.

I've seen the videos....and I trust China as far as I can throw the entire country and its populace without stretching.

But, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they are fairing worse than we are at this point. Why? Many reasons, but the one that stands out to me is that China, with it authoritarian regime, has been much more "successful" locking people down even though they have a huge population. They are just now getting Omicron.

A pandemic is just that- "pan"- all. Essentially, everyone (with statistically insignificant exceptions) will get resistance somehow, with Omicron, likely by getting it, and no one will get out of this without antibodies. However, because when China says "stay home" and China is China, people stay home....and thus make the pandemic last longer for them than it likely will for us.

Also, a government that does not value the individual worth of each person and has completely authoritarian communist (not socialized) medicine? Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if things are much worse over there.

As for our politicians, would many of them like to start exercising more control again? Sure....but they've lost everyone but the super-fretful. Even my more liberal friends scoff at the Covid protocols at this point.

As for a 4th shot, who cares? Mandates will have few political supporters and are frittering away now. Some people get flu shots every year. This will just be one more thing in the mix. Eradication was never going to happen. The exit to the pandemic, just as it was in 1919-1920, is the disease becoming a seasonal "flu".
