You're using civil rights era circumstances and applying them to today. Effectively calling America racist, especially in a climate where middle America just endured 8 years of being called racist for just disagreeing with the president, is not going to endear anyone to your cause. Again, MLK didn't do that. He pricked people's hearts and consciences. Kaepernick insulted people.You're using contemporary sensibilities and applying them to the Civil Rights Era. It doesn't work that way. People then believed, just as fervently, as people now in their disagreement; moreso, in fact, because Dr. King was literally, with his protests, changing the nation.
And no, let's not whitewash history. King was not attacking the beliefs of "some" backwards individuals, he was attacking the beliefs enshrined-IN-LAW of most of the nation.
