      Duracoating a 1911

      There is a company in Ft Wayne that does a "black oxide" coating and it looks very good. Kind of a flat black with just the slightest touch of shine. They bead blast the gun then coat it.

      Unfortunately no, he is on other boards though. He is on the Sherriff's dept in Van Wert OH. It is not a dept owned M16, rather a personal gun.

      1911 hands down. I think it beats out Dirty Harry's 44 Mag IMHO. Everyone in the movies has carried the 1911...ww1 and 2 movies, vietnam, modern spec op movies, gang banger homies are shown with it. :twocents:

      Great idea...but I would do it a different way. Instead pace out a line about 25 feet, stand back to back. Have a 3rd person yell go, from there you run the opposite direction as your dad draws, flips the safety and chambers a round and once he gets a shot off (he has to yell) you stop...

      Sturdy safe arrived

      It's 48x24x72. The depth does not include the handle so with the handle it's actually 27 (some safe manufactuers measure their depth with the handle). It came it right under 1100 pounds. Here updated photo, added lighting.

      Was it the folks at Crane? I just ordered the Vltor Basic Mod stock due to the special that's running at BCM. I heard it's pretty close to LMT unless you have a tactical beard, at which point it could pull your hairs some.

      Thanks for the heads up. It cam with a key to change it. I believe you use the 11 o clock position on the dial instead of the 12. I may do it some day once I get the hang of dialing it in. It's very touchy if you don't get it just right it doesn't work.

      Boy am I glad that is done...... I moved it 95% by myself then had help once it was in the room it was going it and it was a huge help (thanks to member USAGOLD), moral of the story is next time I might pay to have it moved. I used 6" pieces of broom handle and moved it almost the entire way on...
