If you get a Rockchucker press it will last a lifetime and then some. One thing to remember is that inexpensive (cheap) presses will sometimes allow the frame to flex causing inconsistant loaded rounds.
A Rockchucker is one press I would not be without.
I would like to purchase to use in my local Bullseye league but we are an entire state apart. I'm in Ft Wayne area. Possibility of meeting somewhere in between ? I have both a LTCH and LE credentials if that helps.
You may want to have a look at the Savage line. They are the best bang for the buck as they come from the factory and are easily upgraded as you progress.
Swapping barrels to change calibers is a home workshop job...gunsmith not needed.
Just a brief word of caution; not all wheel weights are suitable for casting . Zink wheel weights are becoming more and more common and can be problematic, and frustrating.
If you are just getting started you may want to purchase clean, fresh alloy from a reputable source such as Roto-Metals...
Essential Arms of Krotz Springs La , aka E.A. Arms makes a terrific product. Do not overlook them if you are shopping. All I have assembled have been in "spec".
In my humble opinion the money spent on a chrono by a newb can be better utilized on powder, primers, and bullets till he reaches a point where he can differientiate between shooter error and ammo defeciencies.
DSA ??
DSA makes the finest Fal receiver on the market today. Period !!
I have dealt with them for over 15 years and never had an issue of any sort. Their parts all are in "spec" and work properly.
I would not hesitate to deal with them.
I think this Blackout cartrige would be GREAT in the new Mossberg bolt gun that takes AR 15 magazines. I have images of threaded barrel, suppressor ready, with a red dot sight.
I am an avid caster and just loaded up a thousand 125 gr round nose over 3 1/2 gr of 231 for my Star Firestar in 9mm. .Bullets were sized .358 to go with my .3565 bore. They shoot just fine in my gun with no signs of excess pressure.
In my experience neither the 40 or the 9 is inherently more accurate than the other. Shooter factor completely out weighs inherent traits.
I would suggest.. if I may, that you look into joining a local Bullseye club where they shoot at bullseye targets regularly and just absorb some of the...
Favorite all around 44 mag load
250 gr Keith type cast lead semi wadcutter over 7.5 of Red Dot lit by a standard primer yields 1150 - 1200 fps from my 4 inch Smith . Very consistant velocity and extremely clean burning. Shooting is pleasant and cleanup is easy.
Tough as a TANK and accurate too !
I have one in 357 mag with a 2 3/4 in barrel. Been trying to wear it out for some time now . I will wear out before it does.
I struggled to answer the same question . Tried every Sig model, every S & W model and settled on a stinking Glock. And just for the record, I hate Glocks. But in 357 Sig the numbers add up. 13 plus one capacity, almost indestructable, requires minimal lube as compared to greasing up the slide...
