What's the best firearm chambered in the caliber? In terms of carry, range performance, and ballistics. I realize there's more than one. I love the caliber but haven't tried everything. Having a Sig chambered in Sig is tempting.

I have a P229, P239, and a HK USPc all in 357Sig. The 229 is hands down the best of the three. The USPc in 357Sig is a rare bird to find also. I use to own one and I traded it away. HK also stopped making and supporting the 357Sig barrels/guns so anything chambered in it are getting harder to find. The 229 handles the round very good and super accurate. I don't encounter the snap of the 357 like a lot of people report. I actually think it is very pleasant to shoot. It is very expensive though to feed.

I struggled to answer the same question . Tried every Sig model, every S & W model and settled on a stinking Glock. And just for the record, I hate Glocks. But in 357 Sig the numbers add up. 13 plus one capacity, almost indestructable, requires minimal lube as compared to greasing up the slide on Sigs, holsters are abundant for the Glock and not so for S&W or Sig,the Glock is difficult for me to limp wrist jam, the finish is more rust resistant than my Sigs, and lastly... the price is realistic as I found a model 32 for $400 delivered. I added a Bar-Sto barrel in 40 for training and practice to keep ammo cost down.
Time will tell if I made a good choice.

From what I have seen from the work side I (along with a couple folks that are at agencies that carry SIGs in 357) believe the best 357 SIG firearm is the SIG in both the 226/229 platform!

    How about a Novak Custom Hi-Power in 357sig, 40, and 9. Just a mere $3000:)

I have a 1911 commander in 357 sig that I put together from a kit. Awesome combo. One of the best shooting 1911's I have.

I have the P226 in .357 sig and love the gun and the round. It is my carry gun and home defense gun. it is a little hard to conceal, but the P229 is another great option. Others have commented on my P226 and how much they love the way it handles the round. Just food for thought.

Glock 32c is my current night stand gun, I would love to have more handguns in this caliber. How about a Lone Wolf glock mag lower and a 12" upper SBR in .357 Sig, that would be one awesome carbine. ;)

I've seriously thought about it. I know where there's a good CPO for $500 as we speak. Buy a 357 Sig barrel to slip in the 40 cal, and away we go...

That would be amazing. Did you just come up with that?

Have XD-357sig it is a great shooter, just seen a XD-tac 357sig at gun show this week end. Reloading the 357sig is surpising low cost because it uses 9mm bullets and the high velocities, +1200fps, that really don't have that much snap.

I've only shot 3 firearms in the cartridge.

So far, my favorites were: Full size Glock (Don't know if it was a conversion or original chambering), Sig 229, Sig 239. The 239 is a DISTANT third.

I've owned just about all the major full size options in 357SIG: the P226, the G31, and the M&P. All of them were more accurate than their 9mm counterparts (I've owned those too)

I will buy another 357, and it will most likely be the P226 (again)

Not to piddle on the parade so to speak:

If you just love the .357 Sig round, then I would suggest getting a Sig pistol in that flavor.

I've carried a P229 for many years on duty, and not to burst one's bubble, I find the caliber wanting in some way or another.

One pays their money and takes their choice.

Can you elaborate? It seems to mimic the ballistics of the .357 magnum pretty well, which was a gold standard for LE back when revolvers were the norm.
