Notre Dame staff, faculty will need COVID vaccine for fall semester

No more appointments until January of 2022. I've had plenty of blood drawn since February and feel about a 1/2 quart low. Won't miss the vampires...oh wait, I need a blood draw for my own purposes now.

Anyhoo, I take it that we should hear some official results from the Novavax Stage 3 U.S./Mexico study soon. End of May, beginning of June.

UofL isn't requiring the vaccine, per se. They're saying that vaccinated people don't have to wear masks or social distance. How they plan to enforce that is not mentioned.

On the surface it kinda looks like a peer pressure tactic. Dangle a carrot to get compliance, as well as identifying the people who aren't vaccinated so that social pressure is on them to fit in. Except we have the David Hogg syndrome where crazy lefties can't relinquish their badge of sacrificial honor. So I suspect that many college students who are vaccinated will still wear the mask.

They don't have to wear the mask outdoors now unless they're in an area where they can't be 6' apart from people. The times I've been on campus since the pandemic hit I've seen many students walking down the sidewalk alone wearing masks.

First, it's a matter of not knowing (yet) what vaccines do to regarding antibodies acquired from COVID.

Second, people who have gotten the vaccine can and do donate blood which is used for all kinds of purposes.

Third, convalescent plasma, while still used at times, isn't the prominent choice that is was last year. There are other, better treatments.

Not yet. I have documentation of participation in a study, but a "vaccine card" is yet in the works.
