I posted it for Kirk's benefit, I don't really care about the Nobel thing, the link just happened to address it as well.
Appreciate it, but the Media misreported that the dewormer received the Nobel Prize, it did not and Reuters made the correction.

Campbell and Omura used it to kill worms in humans, saving hundreds of thousands of people from such plights as river blindness.

The dewormer is being hyped because of politics and nothing more.

Look, people are taking dewormers, dosed for horses, cows, pigs and humans. It is literally insane to listen to the hucksters pushing dewormers. Ivermectin is great for parasites, and if you are full of certain roundworms, it is just the ticket.

However, to speak of it as some sort of magic bullet against a virus is to endanger lives and bolster the cloud of ignorance of science that hangs over society. Let's stop listening to the grifters pushing this filth.
Kirk, you may want to look at other countries - India and Japan. Ivermectin worked there.

Big Pharma is the reason it's essentially banned here, it's cheap. There is no $$$ in it.

    In the country, hopefully.
I do not believe the vaccine is hyped because of politics. I DO believe the reaction to the vaccine is pure politics.

E.g., the now sitting Vice President's evolving position on the "Trump vaccine" from last year to present.
    Wow!
Just wanted to get that quoted.

“I do not believe the vaccine is hyped because of politics”

But just above, you say the dewormer IS being hyped because of politics.

    Wow.

That's dewormer dosed for humans. It kills roundworms, not a virus.

The "I did my own research" crowd is taking horse dewormer, don't do that.

I would tell everyone to wash their hands, stop licking doorknobs and get the vaccine, but that would not accomplish much here.

Federal government, outside limited circumstances, has no authority to tell anyone to get a vaccine. The States can mandate all they want. Better course of action is education, so many people went to government schools and literally know absolutely nothing about science of any sort, coupled with incentives.

Time will be the best aid. Once fear of the unknown passes and the hucksters' din softens, we can do better than a 49% vaccination rate.

So you advocate even healthy people under 75 to get the jab? Why? The chance of having a serious issue with the virus for healthy people under 75 is extremely low. That's why no one, especially the government, should tell someone else what their decision should be in regards to the jab.

Also, there have been multiple links posted about Ivermectin having anti-viral properties, so when you keep saying it's only used as a dewormer, you would be wrong. It's been prescribed for multiple things that aren't worms.

“Dewormer” is being used very specifically in this case to invoke an insulting tone and flagrantly skirt the common boundaries of serious discussion, not to mention forum rules of treating members with respect and courtesy. It’s meant to immediately establish the argumentative high ground, while simultaneously insulting and demeaning oppositional viewpoints.

Don’t fall for the equivalent of, “When did you stop beating your wife?”

Yes it’s called trolling and has gotten others banned for it.

Or you could read what I posted and realize that it does have something to offer outside of being a dewormer. I understand that at this point you’re fully committed to your mistaken line of thinking and you’ve cast far too many insults to back up now but you should actually look into it. Whichever “expert” you’ve decided to hitch your wagon to is mistaken and feeding you incorrect information.

So, for the 4th time, are you telling me medications have never been used for anything other than their intended purpose?

Stop skirting the question. It’s things like that why we believe you’re just trolling. You know we aren’t discussing the horse dewormer. Doctors don’t prescribe horse dewormer to people. That **** might work in whatever clown court you attend, but it doesn’t fly here.

I can appreciate what you say here except for the last line.

If you are saying that people running out to Tractor Supply and buying horse dewormer and then self dosing are acting irrationally, I would tend to agree with you, but it seems a distinction should be drawn between that crowd and the crowd that, in conjunction with their doctor, are taking Ivermectin in tablet form which is the human formulation not the animal formulation.

I sometimes take a very old drug that was meant for one thing originally but an off label use is that it makes one sleep more healthy. It's original use has long since been superceded but its a lot cheaper than current sleep drugs and for me, it works.

Then of course, Viagra! MANkind's favorite drug that got marketed for a "side-effect" that WOEMANkind maybe didn't like so much.

remember when viagra was a heart drug? We are only beginning to scratch the surface of what the molecules we already have (drugs) can be used for.

anti parasite drugs show a lot of promise in the treatment of cancers already. So why should we limit a drug to the first intended use if its potentially effective against other disease?

this class of drug has effects that our current science doesn’t fully understand. What we do know for certain is that anti parasite drugs do more than kill roundworms.

    Ivermectin treats breast cancer

mebendazole might treat pancreatic cancer ( promising in mice)

Anti parasite drugs stop tumor growth.

The thing about that is, from what I understand, most of that was misreported. The numbers of cases called into poison control were much lower than what was reported if I'm remembering correctly. The media is blowing this up as if every Trump supporter in the country is taking horse dewormer and being poisoned, when that is far from being true.
