Grassley has never had a close race. Ernst won before Trump ever announced. This is a joke. The Governor (who endorsed DeSantis) only had a close race in 2018, when Trump was in office.

The issue is, this fluff talk almost everyone sees past and is ultimately irrelevant to policy and economic concerns that people like me are more concerned with.

I don't really care how dumb of stuff he says, if he's effectual in improving my standard of living and our national interests.

How is it productive to the party to have someone who smack-talks his own party like this with blatant lies?

Especially someone like Grassley or Reynolds.

    We can do better.

I think you're walking past the bigger point here. It's a character flaw, and it's easy to discount and move past. Nobody is being fooled by it, it's just his marketing fluff.

Therefor in the greater scheme of things it becomes practically irrelevant. We'll never have another president with the balls to walk into North Korea without security escort, so I really don't care if he says some silly things.

I think you have to decide you hate Trump first, then that makes it easier to come up with reasons for it

Kind of the reverse of the process where you decide you want DeSantis and then discover the 'reasons' why he's [not]YourGuy

You don't think we should have a higher standard for that office? You know, arguably the most important in the world?

Considering we usually have people of FAR lower standards as president, I find it hard to take much issue with that.

I mean, in contrast we had Biden telling the audience Elton John was the cause of all our research funding for AIDs.

We should but we don’t, probably never did have the higher standards you suggest, just a charade and press concealment of the debauchery that went on.

I find it fascinating, while simultaneously tragic, those that have fallen hook, line, and sinker for the democrat’s/media‘s ploy to peel off republican voters with standards they themselves do not follow.

Yeah I mean it wasn't exactly unheard of for a president to beat someone with a cane and cuss like a sailor publicly, in the old days.

If they would have had the media reach we have today, yeah I imagine there would have been huge scandals over it.

Since when do we peons get to set the standard?
You mean you are not a member of the Democratic or Republican national committee who decide who is on the ballot?
Less we forget the Republican national party took total control from us back in 2012.

For democrats it was the creation of super delegates(they actually have much less power after 2020...when few voted for Biden and could do little to sway who the party chooses now, they changed power by applying similar rules to the Republican party after super delegates nearly cost Biden the nomination).

What we should have is a leader dedicated to a higher standard for the country and its citizens than what we have now. Trump set out to achieve that higher standard while in office and not settle for anything less like Obhammy did when he once told us that we should settle for "new norms" of lower expectations.

Trump said eff that and it was the catalyst behind the "Make America Great Again" initiative to achieve and maintain a higher American standard, foreign and domestic and he wasn't about to let us settle for anything less.

Exactly what I was getting at, but wasn’t sure how to express.
