I learned something about a new Camera I bought the wife for Christmas.

I was bored yesterday and saw the owners manual for her new camera and picked it up and leafed through it.

I has a GPS enabling that will code the GPS location of where the picture was taken. So, if someone was unaware of this and posted a pic on the internet, someone could find out the gps coordinates of where the picture was taken.

I disabled that feature ASAP. I wonder how many people have that and don't realize it??

Oh, I know. Had a relative that was high up in USAF intel. He gave me some advice and warnings about the internet.

But it's kind of scary not counting Big Brother. What if my daughter posted some stuff on Facebook. Some perv with the right software could find out exactly where she lives through those pics.

Lots of them do. First thing I tell friends who get a new camera is to disable that feature.

Having said that I have the GPS on my iphone enabled so if I get lost I'll know where I am
