    How many pounds of steel is in that ladle???

    That's a generic pic i pulled off the internet.
    We can lift 650, 000 pounds, but average 600,000.
    If we bring the lid up, that's 5,000 pounds. Small stuff.
    We usually consider a ladle down to slag when it weighs 178,000 - 185,000 pounds.

    Is it just me or does that look like a pizza in that cauldron thingy?

    That's the slag floating on the top. It starts to form a crust. If you're not careful, you won't be able to get a temperature pole in.
    The color is off a bit. Cameras have a hard time with the brightness.

    Dinner is done. Lake perch from my freezer. I can't wait for fishing to start back up! Still plenty of bluegill in there, but that perch was awesome.
