Every single line above makes perfect sense if you assume that these "rules" aren't about justice or fairness, but instead are about exercising power over others. Then there are no contradictions or inconsistencies.

I always thought it would be Portland. They generally get the highest marks for bat **** crazy.

Good point; I have no idea why any of the officers of the Portland Police Bureau are still there. Maybe they're stuck, and need the job? Perhaps they suffer some hope that it might get better? Or likely some of them are "true believers" in how the city is being managed, as directed by the populace electing those people.

Saw a chyron on Fox when I was at the gym today: "Support grows for disbanding police".

Wouldn't the first question be: From what to what?

If it's from 1% to 2%, why should anyone care?

They claim that's not what they want, but if you watched the DC riots stream... those people were screaming at the cops that "there's no place for you in our new world", and they won't "need police"

They police each other through mass shaming, peer pressure, and group think.

Hey, doomsday cults tend to get along fine. Maybe it could work.

Sure disband the police...but then you replace it with what? Another police force, but with a fancy name.

I imagine, first it will be citizen volunteers.
Then there won't be enough donating their time, so they will have to start hiring people.
Some of those will do something wrong. Abuse someone, or just trample rights.
Then there will have to be "training".
Then they will need to expand their equipment, so taxes.
Then... you will pretty much have a PD.
