The GOP likes to talk tough on immigration, but the Chamber of Commerce likes having lots of illegals that they can take advantage of with lower wages and no benefits. The Chamber carries a lot of weight in the GOP. So i would never count on them doing the right thing.
Frankly, with the number of companies who would love to kick employees off their group plans under Medicare for All - I'm not even sure we can trust the GOP on that issue. For now, the Insurance Companies are keeping the GOP in line. But there are many more "other" types of companies who would benefit from getting rid of private insurance (basically anyone who offers group coverage). The only reason they're not winning out in the GOP currently, is because the Insurance Companies are a more unified, organized (and louder) voice, despite their small size.
