The whole education debt disaster is a lie.
The average college loan debt in the US is about $33,000. That's the price of a new car, which a lot of those graduates are going to buy.
    It's all a hoax.

Notice how Buttgieg is in the cellar with black voters. This latest dust up in So. Bend isn’t gonna help him crawl out of it.

He's a one trick pony. Probably going to try to use this to get name recognition to run for another office in the future.

He's gay, there's a LOT of prejudice in the older black (i.e. voting) community, especially in the South, when it comes to homosexuality.

Acknowledged. He already had an uphill climb with that particular voting bloc.

So most student debt is carried by MBA and Doctoral students in fields that do not pay crap. In addition a direct correlation between degree, debt, and repayment can be drawn.
    http://www.hamiltonproject.org/asse..._graduates_earnings_growth_debt_repayment.pdf

So why don’t we limit the amount of student loans based on degrees? (It’s “our” money)

If you want a degree in Medieval History you get a loan for say $100.00!

A degree in Chemical Engineering you get a loan for million !

Truth be told most people struggling with student debt borrowed too much and work in low paying areas.
They probably need to quit bartending and get elected to Congress!

I think three quarters of the democratic candidates running are looking for a cabinet position or ambassadorship

Given the turnover in Trump's first term, they might have a decent chance at an appointment in his second.

    ;) :)

11 years ago, I would have said a weird name would be a problem for him.

'Course, when people find out about what South Bend really is like....

I think three quarters of the democratic candidates running are looking [STRIKE]for a cabinet position or ambassadorship[/STRIKE] [to start or enhance a career suckling from the public teat]

Utilizing data from a Rollcall article from March 2018, as of 3 Jan 17 232 of 435 MoC have a net worth of at least $1 million (from financial disclosure documents) and this is likely low as it does not require consideration of the value of their homes. It also is net worth, value less liability. So it doesn'i include, for example, Maxine Waters who had $1.5 million in assets but claimed $1.4 million in liabilities (it's strange they can claim the liability for their mortgage against their assets but are not required to claim the value of the property the mortgage is against - that's what happens when the rules are made by millionaires for millionaires)

It seems a certain type people are attracted to a 'profession' that makes 51% of its practitioners millionaires while itself producing absolutely nothing of value to the country and economy

SAN DIEGO — The wife of U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter pleaded guilty Thursday to a single corruption count and agreed to testify against her husband at his trial on charges the couple spent more than $200,000 in campaign funds on trips, dinners, clothes and other personal expenses.

Margaret Hunter served as campaign chair for her husband, and after the couple was indicted last year the Republican congressman from California suggested his wife was to blame for any misuse of funds.

Well, since he was using those funds to step out on his wife I'd hardly rate her an unbiased source. Let's wait for some facts from the forensic accountants

Oh but that happened in California where it's not only commonplace, but it's also encouraged.
