Here is a pretty good explanation of the mindset of activists.

I forgot about that video. He was pretty much summarizing chapter 6. I have to admit that I've integrated some of that in my opinions about activism. I've always thought it was immoral to work to change laws that affect people who don't want those laws changed. I think the best approach for that would be advocacy, not activism. Activism is more like a forceful approach in that activists seek a political advantage over the people who disagree with them, to get society or governance to change, to impose their social will on the people who don't want it. And yes, sometimes the social change is needed, but there's also a long term consequence to society when changes are forced. This is the whole idea behind the phenomenon of Overton's Window, which I am aware has become a sort of cliche for me.

If you want the window to shift your way, you have to be an advocate for the change you want. If you're an activist, you force the window to shift. That's what happened in the Obama years, and the result of that was Trump. And the results of that may be something far worse on the left in reaction. And then a greater division than even what we have now.

    Tried to give rep...

I love it, another expression of the fake world society has created. We live in a society that promotes the fake sex of porn, fake friends of social media, but to paraphrase Peterson, their own life is so fu***d up it is easier to focus on climate change than the heavy lifting of getting their own house in order...

In further thought on this concept it would seem to apply perfectly to the Hollywood do-gooders, their own lives are such a wreck they would rather fix the world...

Yes. It's not about the cause at all. It's about being seen on the side of the cause. I got lectured by inlaws about my lack of respect for Greta, the matron saint of climate healing. Oh, she's really smart. She dug into all this information herself. She's worked to understand the science. She's trying to get the world to see it as she understands it. She's right about climate change. We should heed her words. She has a right to be pissed.

Oh yeah? Then why did you fly here to podunk Indiana from out west? Greta said ZERO emissions! NO FLYING! NO DRIVING GAS CARS! NO DRIVING ELECTRIC CARS THAT CONTRIBUTE ANY CARBON!! Why haven't you rearranged your life for zero emissions yet? Is it because, MAYBE you don't want to give up your lifestyle for your beliefs? You can't have it both ways. Either Greta is full of **** for demanding that society changes to meet her limited view of the world, or you're full of **** for believing her and not doing it. You can't have it both ways. This is only about being on the perceived "right" side.

    Yeah. Easy to spot fakes.

You just found out? They've cut records since the 60's. Where have you been?

Reminds me of my dad telling me to get a haircut. Not in 1969. But a little later.

As impeachment winds down Bloomberg reiterates he is willing to spend in the billions to unseat Trump.

How does this play? Will Americans be put off by a billionaire trying to spend a President out of office? Will it just fall along tribal lines? Will his money hurt the dem nominee? Will it further engage Trump supporters to work more to reelect Trump? How can a candidate take his money and or support and claim independence from such a mega donor?

I outlined an article that shows how by becoming an announced candidate he can give unlimited money to his campaign. When that campaign ends he can give that money to the nominee without limits. He is making a mockery of campaign finance laws dems claim to love. The limitless transfer from candidate to candidate was so dem money raised by individual candidates could be directed to other dem candidates when they dropped out. He also gets much better TV ad prices for his commercials...

There's plenty of things to point out to them.
I've been recycling since I was in scouts, in the 70s.
Always cleaned up the camp site.
    Cleaned up the parents yard.
Helped older neighbors by getting garbage that had blown into their yard.
Did all my errands in 1 trip, instead of 5 individual ones.
    Etc.

And I'm getting lectured by people that leave lights on, run to the store 15 times for individual items, recycling is "TOO HARD", etc.
