BTW, I am done shooting until this whole process is over and the fog is completely cleared. I had an "incident" at the range the other evening that scared me. No one else noticed it and it was, thankfully, not unsafe as the gun was, as always pointed down range. But what my mind should have recognized and would normally have without conscious thought it did not. I shot a string, counting in my head as always, and reached what I thought was the end. I had shot the last several rounds in SA but wanted to do a dry pull on DA before I put the gun down. My brain did not acknowledge that the slide did not lock back on the last round and that the gun was in battery. Of course this means either it didn't lock back for some reason on the last round or...it wasn't the last round. This is a no brainer, right? Well, apparently I am now working with no brain as it didn't even register. So, pointing the gun down range, I squeezed off what I thought would be a dry fire DA pull and, of course, BANG. I was momentarily startled and then scared. I put it down and was done shooting.

I do believe you were standing fairly close to me when I (In a state of fatigue that should have made an impact on my choice to go shooting) had a similar incident. That has never left my mind.

Yep, saw that as well but the barrel is too long for what you are looking for.

Here's the one you need... https://ruger.com/products/sp101/specSheets/5720.html

BA - your mind is clear enough to follow the Four Rules and, thus, nothing happened except a down range round and an opportunity to provide us all a reminder.

As always, there is value gained in every post of yours.

Agreed... following the safety rules and ingraining those into actions is what makes the difference. If you or someone else notices yourself disregarding those then it may be cause for concern, but otherwise, getting back in the saddle and knocking off some rust is probably the best thing for you (mentally and physically). Hope all is well and everything comes back clear in follow up checkups.

I've shot with BA and CM and both are very safe and I wouldn't even think twice about being on a range with either one.
BA I'm sorry you are having some serious health issues right now and I cant wait to see you kick it in the nuts and go full gun crazy when you're back to health

Thank you, my friend. I like the name Bill for the fotay. Is there a back story? BTW, Bill is, hands down, the best fotay I have ever shot. If after I get back on my feet you ever decide to part with it I hope you will remember to let me know.

BA, anything that I bought from you is yours for the asking if you decide to bring it back home. That offer stands for any gun that I buy from someone in this group. Except the 40P WTB! That's a keeper :)
