I certainly would hope so. He should care about that and does.

Air force one? Why should he spend any time worrying anything at all about air force one? We treat our presidents too much like royalty, the public should foot the bill for a Delta business class ticket at best when he needs to fly somewhere.

    Only half kidding.

Throw a couple of mattress' and a sat phone in the back of a c-17 if you must. Presidents aren't all that important, I'd be willing to add x% of assassination risk if it saved a few billion dollars.

Air Force One is hardened against EMP and contains a complete communications suite to conduct running the country, and more importantly the military, during a crisis. It posesses extensive active and passive countermeasures as well as air to air refueling capability so that the CIC has a mobile command center and can move as necessary when dictated by said crisis

Any patriot would want the most effective one possible given the technology of the day

In this week's episode of "Kut is Mean to Trump."

Our Country has lost, stupidly, Trillions of Dollars with China over many years. They have stolen our Intellectual Property at a rate of Hundreds of Billions of Dollars a year, & they want to continue. I won’t let that happen! We don’t need China and, frankly, would be far....
....better off without them. The vast amounts of money made and stolen by China from the United States, year after year, for decades, will and must STOP. Our great American companies are hereby ordered to immediately start looking for an alternative to China, including bringing..
...your companies HOME and making your products in the USA. I will be responding to China’s Tariffs this afternoon. This is a GREAT opportunity for the United States. Also, I am ordering all carriers, including Fed Ex, Amazon, UPS and the Post Office, to SEARCH FOR & REFUSE,....
....all deliveries of Fentanyl from China (or anywhere else!). Fentanyl kills 100,000 Americans a year. President Xi said this would stop - it didn’t. Our Economy, because of our gains in the last 2 1/2 years, is MUCH larger than that of China. We will keep it that way!

"Ordered?" Ya'll ok with this? Seriously, what the hell?

No no no, you don't understand.

He's not nationalizing private industry, he's just telling them not to allow people to break the law.

I'd mostly prefer that business is left to businesses. Now with the Fentanyl thing, if there's an emergency kind of health issue going on, I think the president has some legitimate standing there, but I don't know if there's that kinda of emergency.

Its hard to believe any non-communist, non-socialist sane person would be on the side of nationalization of private industry.

Only way for a private carrier to know for sure what's in a package is to open it.

Most of that has a certain amount of merit that can be debated except the ordering part.

Read it again. He said "ordered to immediately start looking for an alternative". That doesn't assume everybody will find a good alternative. That doesn't assume anything. That merely directs companies to consider all their alternatives, which is exactly what competent companies do on a continuous basis anyhow.

Well yeah, if businesses want to jump on the "do it for country" bandwagon. But we both know "do it for the shareholders" always wins out over country. Who are we kidding here though, you gotta ask if the president actually knows what America is all about if he thinks he can go around ordering private interests to do his bidding. You can't chalk that up to him not knowing how to "talk like a politician." His words are easily understood as "unAmerican" by most Americans.

Surely you understand what "ordered" means.

So he gets a pass for that one too 'eh? Presidents don't have subjects to order around, dictators (or those that want to be) do. Now I'm curious, concerning this ridiculous trade war, do you also think the Trump-appointed chairman of the Fed is an "enemy" comparable to the likes of China?

I don't know about that. Obama and his administration "ordered" Americans to purchase health insurance or else face financial penalties. Not to mention, in doing so, took away the choice of the individual about which insurance companies and doctors they could use. :dunno:
