    Y..Y...Yo....You mean the Soviets lied?

If true, I can't imagine going through life accepting praise for something I didn't do. How hollow must that feel?

Praise was about all Kalashnikov got. Maybe what we would call a stipend. On the other hand, it's not like he was elected POTUS and given the Nobel Peace Prize for community activism. (sorry about the threadjack)

I once read a book that told the story of the Soviets copying the B-29 bomber from one that had landed there after it had developed engine problems on a mission over Japan during WWII. The B-29 was America's newest bomber and Stalin had ordered that it was to be copied exactly. All was going well until a 2nd bomber landed on Soviet territory and they discovered that one piece of the plane was painted a different color than the first one that had landed. The issue went all the way up the chain to be settled by Stalin himself, such was the fear of the man, justifiably so.

    I say M1 Garand.

I am unable to find out when John Garand was force to work for the Soviet Union side by side with Misha the Mechanic after the Soviet Army captured his design plans.:D

    Y..Y...Yo....You mean the Soviets lied?

The Soviets only lied about everything, with the odd exception that THEY did write their own newsletters.
