You'll get no argument from me. Well, he's more of a hippie.

    Honest answer? A lot.

How much did we spend on the Cold War "nonsense"?

Well, here's a way we can kill Ivan, and not lose any GIs.

    Wait -
    A) You complain about a "commie" pope, then demur when is comes to honest-to-God real-life Communist killing people.
    B) You're username is BigRed.

    hmmmmm....

$9B delivers a round to the head of ivan.

How much is "a lot" to you? Or are you hoping to plunder your neighbor to make up the definition and difference?

I haven't checked Pravda, so can someone tell me, does this mean we have to hate Poland now? Or is the United States to blame?
It probably means the new kickback pipelines are place so we need to send billions to Poland now also, with severely limited oversight of course

Press conference coming from folks more worried with pronouns than killing our enemies...

    Keep up with the narrative.

    First.
    Then
Lots of twisting and turning/keeping the investigation secret later....

Ukrainian's did it! With fake passports and a sailboat leased from a company in Germany.

    ....or not.
But if the actual truth ever comes out(the original investigation is still top secret)...well that would mean there was a leak somewhere else. Likely a few angry people as well.
Just keeping everyone up to date on the narative.
It was the Russian's pretending to be Ukrainian's in a false flag in the latest update from Germany.

Someone posted about Pravada this or that...not sure if they really understand the company though. It is kind of a friendly to what ever state it is in orginization these days.

As far as Poland I pointed it out in this thread last year. It is the USA's number one "ally" in the EU. After all we financed the pipeline that opened the day Nord2 blew up. This one.
Shortly after building a new base. This one.
Before moving all our armor from Germany to Poland.

We also get the nice benifit of Polish gas imports sold to the rest of the EU priced by contracts made in the good old American dollar(not Euro's because that has no benifit for Poland or the US).
Of course it does not hurt that we have a shiny new defense deal with Poland, while cutting back ties to those silly German's.

So Poland will remain for quite awhile as the key ally of the US in the EU.

According to the 5 1/2 month old article about the natural gas pipeline
The pipeline is at the centre of Poland's strategy to diversify its gas supplies away from Russia that began years before Moscow's February invasion of Ukraine triggered a global energy crisis.
    And...
Russia cut gas supplies to Poland in April when it refused to pay in roubles

And based on what crazy Ivan has said and done lately, I'd say that *Trump's* decision in 2019 to move US troops east (according to that article) was pretty damned prescient. Also, nice to see Biden finally realizing who are friends are, after the crap he spouted during the campaign.
During the election campaign, Biden had accused Trump of backing authoritarian leaders around the world, mentioning Poland among others.

So we agree Trump and Poland made the right call?

What is the proper response? And not defending Milley, but if you were the general at the podium, would you be giving the press (and the rest of the world) our strategy?
Maybe, if our leaders had a spine, other countries would be wondering if picking a fight was a good idea.
    Wars are fought on perceptions.
Attackers will attack, because they think they will win.
Not because they think they will lose.

Are you saying that Putin wants a direct war with us? He can't even get to Kyiv.
