Uhhh... the investigation for which Scooter Libby went to jail, was about the disclosure of the identities of CIA agents. Scooter Libby went to jail for disclosing the identities of CIA agents... specifically Valerie Wilson. Unless you are speaking about something else, this does not appear to satisfy your premise of being investigated by the Feds, and going to jail for an unrelated lie.

The statement was "he identifies with the common man". It's at least a little about identity, if not entirely about identity. So on that I disagree with Hough. Trump talks to everyone, like most people talk to each other in everyday, colloquial language. And sometimes even crudely. Trump has a lot of informal mannerisms, as described in the video. He's not a refined man, let's say. So I can see why common people would think in terms of identity. He's rich, but he acts like one of them. He is capable of identifying with them.

But that's not what was untruthful about the meme (remember, it's the humorous underlying truth that makes a meme funny).

What was untruthful about the meme wasn't the identity. It's that the meme assumes a rich guy surrounded by gold, living the life of a billionaire, can't possibly identify with common people. Yet he does. The video proves that.

So if the meme is telling a lie, which that one most definitely does, it is only funny to the people who believe the lie. In which case, the meme is only ridicule.
