I too was surprise of the positive reaction. Lots of smiles, honks, and waves. There were a few that looked slightly concerned but they were a very small minority.
It was a good way to spend my bday and a great way to spend a little time with boys.
A very positive experience! Thanks to SavageEagle for coordinating everything.
Is this picture taken during the actual Anthem? I'm a little confused by it.
Only one guy has his hand over his heart, at least one person is still wearing a hat, and (assuming that's the "official" flag in the center), half of you have your backs turned to the flag. Never mind the fact that it's not hoisted.
A big thanks to our courteous and professional IMPD !!!
Looking forward to the next one .
Kudos to all who participated. It was a super nice afternoon walk.
Special thanks goes out to IMPD for the escort.

To Whom It May Concern,
Hi! My name is Ryan Savage. I, among many others, helped organize the Tax Day and Independence Day Tea Party's here in Indianapolis, Indiana. I am currently working on a little project in which I'm trying to educate people about Gun Rights and the Second Amendment.
The idea transpired after a year of failure trying to do so on a National Scale. I tried to get this going through a Second Amendment forum on the Internet and had great initial success, but only initially. After about a month of gaining supporters in 10 states, too many people let the "what-ifs" stand in the way. It wasn't until the Tea Parties did people think an idea like this would be possible. The idea and events that spurred this Walk into life was the recent events in which the media demonized the men from New Hampshire and Arizona who openly carried pistols and rifles at obama Town Hall meetings.
Now, before I get into details, I'd like to say this is only a local educational walk right now. I have a bunch of people all across the USA watching us to see how well our walk goes.
On September 26th, 2009, this Saturday at 12 noon, I, along with at least 30 other people and some of their families intend to walk a route through downtown Indianapolis with the group passing the Indiana State Capitol Building, the Soldiers and Sailors Monument on the Circle, and a small stop at the Indiana World War Memorial to play the National Anthem and say a prayer for those who died to protect our Freedom. We will be Openly Carrying Pistols and Rifles and Shotguns and passing out information to anyone interested. I have attached a piece of info that will be included in the packets we will be handing out. It is also our Statement of Intent.
We have the support and go ahead from the City of Indianapolis and are working closely with the Indianapolis Metro Police Department (IMPD) and Indiana State Police (ISP) to make sure everyone is safe and stays safe before, during, and after the Walk.
Again, attached to this email is our Statement of Intent so that no one can say that we are racists, terrorists, criminals, or are advocating violence of any kind. We are teachers, mechanics, scientists, police officers, plumbers, carpenters, truck drivers, fathers, husbands, fire fighters, paramedics, and we are all concerned about not just gun rights, but also the level of education that people have regarding firearms and the legality of carrying or, God forbid, using them.
We hope that you will send someone to cover this event. It may well be an event to remember. Especially since this is a historic first for Indiana!
Ryan
