Outside of the car (and the stove and microwave) all of my clocks adjust automatically. And our smoke alarms are wired into the electrical system. and if you buy new ones they are generally sealed with 10 year batteries. (10 years is the life of an alarm anyway. By 10 years, the chemicals inside it that set off the alarm will have deteriorated to the point that it is no longer reliable and needs to be replaced. Generally, if the color of the alarm cover is no longer white/ivory, you should probably replace it.
