Actually, no he does not believe in gun rights. Regardless of what NRA says, he is in no way a supporter of gun rights for individuals.
Perhaps what I should have said is that his 'rhetoric' points to being against gun control. He has less of a record to point against, whereas Coats has 20 years worth. Much like Coats though, his actions show he is a political opportunist, first and foremost.
BTW, though my avatar quote shows that I belong to several 2nd Amendment advocacy groups, do not be confused into thinking that any of those organizations are the final word in how I vote. I download the sample ballot, research the candidates regardless of party affiliation, and make my own decisions based on more than just 2nd Amendment issues. Though, to me, it is one of the most important indicators of a person's willingness to uphold the Constitution.
Using my value system, I find that neither Ellsworth, nor Coats is the best candidate for the job. Nor are they worthy of my vote. Neither has shown themselves capable of upholding the Constitution as the supreme law of the land. Why not give Sink-Burris a chance to show if she can?
If she is indeed 'unelectable', then you send a message to the Republican party. Pull your heads out of your posterior and work on behalf of stronger Constitutionalist candidates or your party's candidate may not get elected.
