    I guess I'm slipping. That hadn't yet crossed my mind. No doubt you are correct--after all, they could probably get 25,000 new employees for 2/3 the cost of the ones getting pink-slipped.

    News flash: not everyone at Microsoft does the same thing. Jobs in the tech sector aren't interchangeable. There's no way you can move someone from high speed circuit design over to IDE software design.

    I guess this sort of stuff doesn't phase me as much. I mean, tech companies grow and shrink pretty quick, employees just gotta roll with it and never assume a job is forever.
