    Mastic for do-it-yourself, and Aeroseal if you can figure out how to get them to Indianapolis. Aeroseal pumps a sealant into the prepared positive pressure ductwork and seals openings from the inside out. There is several companies in Chicago that do it, and might be a few in Indpls by now.

    Many older homes rely on the radiant heat from the HVAC system to keep plumbing in unheated crawls from freezing during the winter. Coming from someone with a bit of experience in both fields, I would not suggest insulating the ductwork if the plumbing is naked.

    Yep. Have first hand experience with this, and repairing broken pipes on the cold wet mud floor is not fun.

    Watch out for racoons and opossums when your down there.

    actually I was really worried about that the first time I went in. It was so bright outside and so dark under there I couldn't see anything for awhile. I was nervous my appendages would be stumps by the time my eyes adjusted
