You didn't shoot him? I would have! That is one scary ass looking spider!

I thought about getting out the airsoft. :D
Spiders are our friends. They do a lot more good than damage.
It really creeped me out when he jumped as I tried to move him.

Yeah well, when you wake up with that wolf spider on your nuts lets see if you still feel the same way.

Of course he is not done growing yet either.

We do still think alike. That was one of my first thoughts. If I can see this one, how many can't I?

Good to hear your still breathing.

You tried to WHAT??????? First of all, it would have gotten a big old "SCUTTER, GET DOWN HERE NOW!" from me and if he weren't around, the spider would have gotten a few shoes thrown at him. Then if I couldn't hit it hard enough to damage it, I would get the fly swatter. I'll leave them alone if the are outside my house for the most part but if it's inside where I sleep, that thing is NOT going to be living. You are not going to tell me he is a lot more scared of me than I am of him... NOPE...

I'd go a step further and say nuke from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.... ;)

Good point. Still gotta have eyse on the ground though to make sure it was really there. Otherwise, next thing you know there is a burial at sea and a big cover up :D.

Taking my boys camping for the first time this weekend. Although, I grew up "outside of town," my boys are pretty much city kids. Will be interesting to see what happens if we run into a bad boy like that! :draw:
Be carrying my M&P .40...just in case....

near Bedford on a whole lot of land.
I believe so. Not poisonous, so to speak, but aren't all spiders kind of poisonous. Just not so poisonous to humans?

It's a wolf spider. It can inflict a painful bite but not generally aggressive and it takes a lot of handling to make it do so. They are excellent nocturnal hunters and in a given night they can eat a dozen or more insects. One of the few species I take out of the house when I catch 'em.

We have tons of those around the house and in the garage. I kill them if I find them in the garage as they are on my turf and I don't want them setting up shop there. I leave them alone outside. They can get crazy big, but they don't like to be found. Pretty cool really, but not inside my zone.
