    oh but I wish I could :):
it would be much easier on you guys.. I would'nt like to see it shut down but IMO there are really only two options left. Let some of this stuff just hash itself out or shut the whole thing down completely.

Political discussions have been and always will get heated at times. Unfortunately.

I would bet my.... well something, that it would just migrate to the break room. You'd have to make such discussions a banworthy offense to stop it.

And when we let it work itself out we get tons of reports and then later accused of showing favoritism:dunno:

Currently, Politics are ONLY allowed in the politics section. So I would think if we removed that section, those discussions would be locked and banworthy.

However, I don't see it going away yet at this time. :dunno:

Well if that's what it takes. instant ban if it manifests itself in another section.

This is a large draw to the site so yes it will remain.
But once in a while we have to flex our muscles and let those who are only here to discuss these issues know that the limits are either in site or they have reached/breached them.
    Religion/politics and Abortion. :dunno:

Yep, usually if we catch it, it's an in-thread reminder that politics go in the politics section. However, usually members are really good at reminding each other about it first. :+1:

Don't get me wrong. I'm not giving you guys a hard time. I'm just as frustrated with the whole thing as you are and I'm not even a mod.

Might as well just shut down the whole GP thread section then. Because it'll happen again and again. That's just the nature of the beast.
Much like gun control, I don't see why the entire community should be punished for the actions of a few.

I don't see why either and I'm not advocating for either. My choice in all honesty would be to just let some of this stuff hash itself out but that's not in the nature for a moderated forum.

It would be great if that's how it happened. But people join in a discussion and get involved in helping it devolve into personal attacks, and then get pissy and start reporting the other person.

And then we have to get involved because nobody understands it's ok to be a damn adult and walkaway to calm down and get back to being civil and respectful. Everyone just wants to be pissy at everything :dunno:

It is quite childish and IMO this tattletale reporting mentality gets to be a burden for the mods as well. I've rarely used the report function. Some people abuse it.

Guess I wasn't aware that there are that many posts that get reported. Assumed that people were more adults than that. I have lurked for several years and it does seem that the last year or so there is a lot more butthurt going especially in the GP.

It's a great tool. But yes, can get abused when you report things because you don't know how to be civil or even excuse yourself for a bit.

Anyway, sorry for the :hijack: Good discussion, but back to your regular scheduled....CIVIL discussion :):

I don’t think I’ve ever reported a comment. I figure most disagreements work themselves out. I get fired up on a couple subjects, but usually I’ll stop replying or they’ll stop replying and it’s over with. Never saw the point in reporting a comment... unless it’s someone with a Chinese symbol for a name posting nude pictures or something... I guess I would then... if they were ugly :):
