I got that. But unwarranted just the same.
I read a post about a guy getting into a petty argument while carrying and made a comment about keeping a cool head when carrying. How does that get that kind of reaction?
It's the pack mentality, just a dog pile...
One spouts off about "2A Rights" and the entire bunch gets triggered.
Like I was told IN DETAIL,
This is a private forum, so no free speech, you either tow the party line (which apparently is pro machine guns in kindergarten, if not earlier),
The idea of removing firearms ownership rights even extends to violent felons, I'm not exactly clear on ownership of firearms while they are still in prison for armed robbery, rape, arson or murder, but it sees they support EVERYONE being armed,
Pro road rage, highly encouraged to road rage and members freely brag about their road rages,
Just the suggestion of acting like an actual adult and NOT road raging sets them off.
The very idea of using manners offends them to the core and they melt down,
Any common sense is out the window when it comes to what *They* want to do, but everyone else is supposed to follow rules/laws...
EVERY question is a troll here...
Even the questions about what you listen to.
You say it's non-fiction, TED talks, collage level tutorials, industry tutorials, and you get ridiculed.
It's that 6th grade taunt about being a book worm or teachers pet...
You get piled on for being in the military, you get piled on for NOT being in the military,
They brag endlessly about 'Carrying' and yet pile on when someone carries when armed strangers show up uninvited at your home/place of business.
They complain endlessly about socialists & Communists, while piling on when someone dares to say there are white supremacists and NAZIs in their own back yards...
--------
Why NOT pile on about keeping a calm head when you are armed in public?
A PERSON (singular) can be calm, rational, thinking and can discuss without the frog brain taking over.
PEOPLE (plural, the herd) and stupid, panicked, frog brained animals that form up in packs and operate on the 4 basic instincts.
In this case, it's fear/aggression, and if you want to see who had exactly ZERO to add to any conversation,
And/or who was even worse and packed up in a dog pile, just read through this thread.
The (assumed) anonymity of the internet brings out the pack mentality even more.
This isn't because these guys are normally aggressive 'Tough Guys' in actual life, it's because they *Think* they won't get caught in real life and have to answer for their actions.
'Instant Feedback' doesn't include a smack in the mouth or a proper old school drill instructor dressing down in public.
A researcher in the field calls it 'The Lord Of The Flies Preschool Generation'.
That's pretty accurate,
They were bullied & punked in preschool/grade school/high school and never got over it...
They never manned up and moved on with life, so they spend a BUNCH of time sniping on the internet where it won't come back to haunt them like it did in grade school or highschool (a smack in the head, instant ridicule, social lepers).
Since they never figured out social limits, what's acceptable and what's not, the same issues that got them punked in school, they side with 'The Pack' to 'Belong'.
(And for the guys we are talking about, "Lord Of The Flies" is a classic book you should have read in middle school)
The school taunts that worked ON them are now being regurgitated in hopes of dislodging from their memory, but it's falling on adult ears, and you can't Purge the past, you can only accept & come to terms with it... The reason so many therapists are in business!
They *TRY* to bolster their self worth by driving someone else down, even if it means trying to defend the undefendable, and that never works either, anyone with any self confidence can see right through the deflection.
More than one actual researcher has determined we spend the rest of our lives trying to get over the things that happened in preschool/grade school/high school,
Unless something dramatic happens in our lives,
Going off to war, major accident that puts you on the other side of things, higher education where you actually dig deep and understand the subject matter, for some, it's birth of children, for others it's finding out you actually ARE alone and you need to pull yourself up by the boot straps, etc.
It's called cognitive recalibration.
It's easy to see with privileged upbringing, lots of money & 'Things', absloute sense of entitlement, when they become bankers, lawyers, politicians they think they can continue to get away with anything because mommy & daddy always bailed them out of trouble.
The same is true with the urban types that make it into professional sports or music/movies, drugs, strip club shootings, dog fighting, general horrible behavior.
Unless they get a serious reality check (cognitive recalibration) they continue on the path they learned in early schools....
--------------
Now, keep in mind this is a forum that had to ban any talk of another civil war...
Between little/no education and absloute ignorance of what happens in war period, or worse yet a civil war, some idiots are actually seriously discussing this on other forums... Mostly about "Who Wins?" (Answer: NO BODY!)
The absloute surest way for any country to shoot it's own self in the collective head -repeatedly- is a civil war.
---AND... There was enough talk on this forum it actually had to be officially banned...
I'm used to people that can't agree if they need a flashlight at high noon, 10 people in the room, 20 opinions on if it's dark at noon or not because they saw a facebag or twaddle meme that said sunlight was a government conspiracy or alien illusion.
The idea you would actually have to ban a subject that brings instant death to millions, and starvation/disease to millions more, completely collapses the economy, puts the entire country under martial law, etc because they couldn't figure that out for themselves is beyond comprehension for anyone with two extra brain cells to rub together!
That's also who argues AGAINST being calm when you are armed!
Nobody is arguing about being calm when armed. We all advocate that. Read through some threads and you’ll see nobody takes up issue with it, maybe it’s your presentation and attitude?

No, of course not. But what part of keeping a calm head seems like bad advice?
The soccer moms had kids with them, they got triggered, and the guy carrying triggered about 10 seconds later.
Now I know the argument about open carry, and concealed carry...
Without getting into that argument, you simply don't have these issues when you conceal.

Only if you're Rhino.

You completely missed where I was going with my comment. It pertained to the entirety of the topic, not what you said.
^^^THIS^^^ I may not agree with him sometimes (Okay, a lot ), but I have seen him contribute some good and valuable information. Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.
ETA: And JH, I didn't mean to talk about you like you weren't here. Sorry for that.
You know as much as I try I've never been able to get that square peg in the round hole.
