We are back to a persons worldview.
If you don't believe in the creator than you'll never see the worldview of those who do, and vise versa.
A religious worldview says that morality comes from God and was reinforced in the laws he gave the Israelites.
Atheist believe that we evolved from an ape and developed morality over time. If that was so why are we regressing and acting worse than wild animals nowadays. Civilization is getting worse not better. In evolution shouldn't things improve not regress morally?

I've had your worldview. I don't now. So I understand both. I'm giving a more nuanced secular perspective than you might get from the average atheist, althought I would not classify myself as an atheist.

And not just atheists think evolution provides a better explanation than the creationist/young earth belief. Many religious people do too.

I believe the government type was taken from several forms of good government from history and our founders made those even better.
Our laws and Morality were definitely biblical principles at least at the beginning of our country.

It was illegal in the past I believe the 2002 SCOTUS ruling changed a lot of that. The Miller test is still on the books but isn't used. If it was used I don't see porn passing it.
Things that are legal now doesn't mean it was in the past. Pornography has so many disadvantages and is destruct to the human mind when watched constantly.
Just like yelling fire in a crowded theater is not free speech nor imo is Pornography.
It's distinctive and as I've said in other post's it fuels child sexualization, pedophilia, trafficking, and many other crimes as well as mental health issues.

I think it’s true enough that at keast Weatern society has socially evolved to override some harmful traits. In the past few decades we’ve had a relatively peaceful period. We’ve long since settled what the **** a woman is. But now we’ve regressed on a lot of socially established things. That has nothing to do with human evolution regressing. Socially regressing, yes. Which is the fault of idea pathogens infecting society.

If you're talking about the long span of human history, we're just on the edge of that, so you're right. But in terms of our lifetime, peace is more plentiful now than before our time. The moral decay though is real.

Definitely. I think I mentioned that up-thread somewhere, only I probably used naughty words to depict it.

But, regarding a woman's place then vs now, or even owning slaves. People who condemn people from the past who had a different moral upbringing throw shade at them when those judging would likely be no different. Which of us now would definitely have been abolitionists if we grew up in the morals of the 18th century? I would hope I would have been. No way to know. Which ones of us would have supported women's right to vote? Possibly some here might know the answer to that.

There are way more examples of these materials in schools. And there are also examples of these teachers bragging about it.

I was in elementary school in the 60's we were shown filmstrips of boys, girls, men and women. Shown 8mm fms and pamphlets. Was it good bad or indiererent? I dont know. We didnt learn much at home then or now in most homes.
Just look at the rate of std's and then the aids epidemic and whats still happening in the world of std's.

What about teen pregnancy for christs sake?

Parents by and large still arnt teaching there children to protect themselfs.
I believe if schools dont teach, for a huge portion of children its just not going to be taught.
Protection is easier to get not more than ever and folks keep passing the gifts that keep giving back and forth.

Porn is not the root of all thats evil in this world.

Okay. Let me ask this about a recent example. Should teachers hand out butt plugs to 14 year old girls in class? Is that really the job of educators now? Is that necessary? To inform students about anatomy and STD's, do they need to know how to insert butt plugs? What about teen pregnancy? Some of these teachers are encouraging students to be come sexually active, and then telling them that they can just get an abortion if they get pregnant.

And I get it. There's a line between being overly prudish and progressing past some unnecessary standards. But a problem with too many progressives is that they just can't figure out when they've gone too far. You seem to have two reactions here. One, disbelief that it's even happening, and two, that you think the complaints about pornography are against things like sex education that was taught when you were in school. Two words. Butt plugs! What the **** about teen pregnancy or STDs is that about? It's not about that. It's tearing down social norms about sex. We've already torn down many of those in the free love decade. But progressives just keep tearing down. Is everything progressive good?

Porn may not be the root of all that's evil in this world, and I don't think anyone is saying it's the worst problem out there. But I mean, c'mon. You have to have your head buried in the sand not to know what's happening in schools. it's not every school. But it's a shocking number of schools. And it's some pretty shocking material that they're showing. And at some pretty shocking ages. C'mon, at least be curious about what's happening.
