What do you expect from the Party that doesn't understand 5th grade economics?

    Also...
Folks, we’re not importing anything other than what we make.

    What?
We're not importing anything other than what we make?
That doesn't even make sense for someone that doesn't understand Econ.
If we made it, then it's not ... imported ...
    Dumb F***

    And then...
prices are still “too high” and argued that companies should lower them after an 18% jump in consumer costs since he took office

Right. You companies should just lose money and go bankrupt.
You know, when the bar you run buys it's booze, it shouldn't raise the price to keep up with the rising costs.
And the supplier.. well they shouldn't raise the price just cause their costs go up.

Let me be clear to any corporation has not brought their prices back down, even as inflation has come down, even supply chains have been rebuilt: It’s time to stop the price gouging and give the American consumer a break.”

Again, doesn't seem to understand basic Econ.
Or does, but hopes the huddled masses don't.
Which given the state of education, could be true.
EVEN IF inflation goes to ZERO (which it hasn't), the PRICES WILL STAY HIGH.
They will NOT come down, unless of course, we have NEGATIVE inflation.
And I'm not holding my breath on that one.

    Here's an idea.
    DON'T SHUT THE COUNTRY DOWN.
And get rid of those economists that couldn't predict inflation would go up.
Basic definition of the cause of inflation is... too much $$$$ chasing too few goods.
    So.. in effect it's $/goods.

If you double the $ (on the top of the line) it would cause inflation to go up.
If you halve the goods (on the bottom of the line) it would also cause inflation to go up.
Cause the bottom of the line causes the INVERSE.

Sooo.. you hit the TOP AND THE BOTTOM at the same time
    NATIONWIDE.

And when it was brought up during the the 'crisis', we were told, "You only care about the Economy".
    YES YOU DIPSH***!!
Cause the economy is what puts food on the table.
    Heat/electricity into our homes.
All the lovely toys that we have become accustomed to.

And of course, they trotted out economists Paul Krugman.
A man that seems to be wrong almost all the time.
WEATHERMEN have a higher accuracy rating than that guy.

The Cassandra metaphor (variously labeled the Cassandra "syndrome", "complex", "phenomenon", "predicament", "dilemma", "curse") relates to a person whose valid warnings or concerns are disbelieved by others.

The term originates in Greek mythology. Cassandra was a daughter of Priam, the King of Troy. Struck by her beauty, Apollo provided her with the gift of prophecy, but when Cassandra refused Apollo's romantic advances, he placed a curse ensuring that nobody would believe her warnings. Cassandra was left with the knowledge of future events, but could neither alter these events nor convince others of the validity of her predictions.

When I say both sides of the equation...
Pumping $$$ into the economy, artificially. There was no gain in efficiency or production.
Bottom side of equation.. shutting down production.
    Causing fewer goods.
    Shutting down businesses.
    Causing fewer services.

Baltimore has found a crime solution.
    Yup.

    Banning winter face masks.
The city that REQUIRED you to wear a mask, now requires you DON'T wear a mask.

It works kinda like a gun ban.
The bad guys will turn around when they see the sign.

Several people have pointed out, they are being punished for the behavior of criminals.
    Mmmmm. Sound like anything else?

AI's take on Biden's presidency in the form of a poem.Format did not move correctly...but meh. I did not write it lol.

Verse 1: Middle East Wars – Tarnished Hope for Peace Oh, Biden, how could you have missed the mark? Your promises of peace now seem but a lark. Middle East wars continue to rage and tear, Leaving innocent souls with despair and fear. Afghanistan's withdrawal, a hasty affair, Unveiling cracks in the US's care.

Verse 2: African Conflicts – A Continent Aflame Across Africa's vast expanse, from east to west, Conflict and turmoil persist with unrest. Ethiopia's Tigray region, a battlefield, As innocent civilians' pleas go unheeded. Where is the voice of a leader once strong? Biden's silence fails where it truly belongs.

Verse 3: Ukrainian-Russian Tensions – Global Strife Oh, Biden, amidst East Europe's strife, Your lackluster response deepens the knife. Ukrainian cries for help, echoing far and wide, But your words fall short, unable to guide. As Russia's aggression tightens its grip, Biden's inaction trumps any diplomatic trip.

Verse 4: Inflation – Squeezing the American Dream Inflation's relentless grasp tightens its hold, As prices soar and the economy unfolds. From gas to groceries, the common folk feel, The burden of Biden's policies, all too real. Empty promises of relief, a painful jest, As the working class strives to bear the unrest.

Verse 5: Manufacturing and Mining Decline – A Growing Fright A nation once thriving, now faltering and weak, Manufacturing and mining decline, bleak. American industries, crippled and strained, By policies that offered little to gain. As jobs dwindle and foreign lands thrive, Biden's presidency fails to revive.

Verse 6: Deepening Poverty – A Stark Reality The deed is done, the wealth gap grows wide, With poverty's grip, American dreams subside. As the rich grow richer, the poor bear the brunt, Biden's policies seem out of touch and blunt. No relief for those struggling to make ends meet, As the poor find solace in disillusionment's seat.

I have been saying it for 2 decades. If you do not grow, mine, and produce things you do not have a real economy.

Reading your post, and then this morning reading this article on investing.com and low and behold the S&P gets the quote of the day. "
India's gross domestic product (GDP) grew a bigger-than-expected 7.6% in the second quarter of fiscal 2024, data showed last week, which prompted several brokerages to raise their full-year estimate.

However, S&P, which had raised its forecast even before the latest data, said India's growth will depend on its successful transition to a manufacturing-dominated economy from a services-dominated one.

"A paramount test will be whether India can become the next big global manufacturing hub, an immense opportunity," S&P said

Now compare that with US talking heads(media and politician) talking about our great transition to a "service based economy". It is like they want us to fail as a country.

India is looking at having the third largest economy in the world in less than 7 years. With 54% of the population below the age of 30,and that population being the largest on earth. They also are opening more coal mines and are averaging 2 new power plants per month(all types). They also have the largest operational oil refinery on earth, that can produce half as much diesel per day at that plant as all US refineries combined.

    The article.
