I really enjoy it when they put out these announcements, with a date and everything, and then the next week can't figure out what happened.

She also picked the hottest time of the summer, which is generally the most violent time, to do it. If I were actually trying to set Chicago on fire, that's the same plan I have.

I actually agree with her here, just not the way she hopes:

“And I hate to use the word a perfect storm, but it’s where we are in this country right now,” Bottoms continued. “And you think about the leadership or the lack thereof that we have coming from the highest office in the land. I think that you are seeing so many emotions play out. And so, too often, it’s playing out in violence in our streets.”

Trump not absolutely crushing the literal armed insurrection against the US up in Washington demonstrates the lack of leadership of which she speaks. If that had been squashed as soon as it should have been, it's quite possible we'd see less violent stupidity all over the country right now because it would be clear that violence in our streets won't be tolerated. Trump is just as hard on mobs and rioters as Obama was, and that's bluntly unacceptable.

From his statements since then, I hope Trump has learned his lesson but he's fooled me before. We'll see.
