BS, you have no proof of that? Nope you don't, just another opinion. And no one should shut down a whole country based on such flimsy estimates. There is reporting that the couple of countries that have not shut down have similar statistics to the US.

The data from WHO, China, and others was believed to be questionable weeks ago and yet we let a media that sucks up to China, so the conglomerate can get business in China, lied and scared the American people so bad they demanded .gov do something.

    In the country, hopefully.
I can live on milk. And I love burgers.
In fact I'll bet I'm not alone in saying that. So why ditch the moo juice and and butch Bessie when there are plenty of hungry people out there.

Or is it just too much work to find new buyers but easy peasy to just do a tax write-off for the year.

I'm actually pissed on hearing these stories of unnecessarily wasting precious food like this. It doesn't need to happen.
It probably affects me more than most. My favorite hobby is eating.

    Seriously.... What the hell? :dunno:
    Find new buyers?
That’s not how any of this works. Unless you want to buy a truck and pick up their milk.
How many milk processors do you think there are in the US?
    https://www.dairyherd.com/article/current-state-us-dairy-industry
Deans and Borden are operating in bankruptcy.
And a tax write off? People that don’t understand how it works just let those words roll right off their tongues. I’m not sure what you know about business or Ag, but a tax write off means you lost money somewhere. They are going to do a tax write off of their life and livelihood. We don’t stay in business by losing money, or writing stuff off.
We were forced out of the hog business because we didn’t want to fork out the capital to build big enough buildings to provide a processor with at least a consistent semi load a week. We had a viable operation, but not viable enough because the processor picked winners and losers. These dairy guys are at this same point. There aren’t many small producers left. By small, I mean not contracted with enough supply to satisfy what the processor dictates, in the neighborhood of 1000 cows.
Connecting hungry people to food is a valiant exercise. Many try. It’s hard. Look into it.

Calling it "the wuhan virus" accomplishes at least two negative things:
    1. It makes the conversation less precise.
    2. It disparages a group of victims as though Covid-19 was their fault.

I can't come up with any positive.

Yeah, it's a small thing. But why try to be abrasive about stuff like this? Conservatives are regularly labeled as racists; why give more ammo to the opposition for nothing gained?

Calling a virus for its origins is a fairly routine thing. It was only after the Chinese communists told their media lap dogs to stop calling it by that name did it become an issue. I don't suck up to ChiComm's so I call it that to be accurate. Nothing racist about it, and anyone who says it is is petverting the words meaning.

The leaks are starting from Wuhan, employees are now saying that there was an accident and blood was spattered over some employees.

That deserves to be called Wuhan virus in my book...

Nothing racist about labelling a disease/virus with a name indicating where it came from.

    rac·ist
    /ˈrāsəst/
    adjective
showing or feeling discrimination or prejudice against people of other races, or believing that a particular race is superior to another.

Using the name of the city Wuhan located in China to indicate the origin of the virus is not racist. Trying to spin non-racist stuff as racist through the unfair use of statements about race to try to influence the actions or attitudes of a particular group of people is however called race-baiting.

If you keep calling someone "the black guy" after you know that his name, that doesn't fall into the traditional definition of racism, either. But it's using race to be disrespectful for no reason.

And being disrespectful for no reason isn't really a good thing.

I absolutely don't know how it works here.
I'm from the west coast and thought it was the same eveywhere, but that was 15 years ago. Why would the moo tanker just suddenly stop picking up product?
And meat... Holy Cow. In CA there were so many farms concentrated in certain areas that when there was a problem with one, (if they weren't jerks the rest of the year) the others would help out and a lot of bartering back and forth was done. Rubbing backs, favors, whatever the terms are now. It's like they'd help each other fill certain contracts so they'd still be in buiss for the next contract.

What is it now..... I never herd of union cows? :dunno:

Even 4-H has buyers lining up. Jeez if I had my truck running I'd take ....well one. (only have a couple freezers) But there big.

Hell even in Amishville up here, the moo tanker would hit the smaller Amish farms. As long as they're up to code with the stainless cold storage units. Yes Amish CAN run electricity with a business. And a phone. And cell phones. And the internet. And yes, porn in the ordnung is a problem at times.

When I lived in the bush, a few times a year a local would walk a cow through our area as a sign that there would be a big BBQ in a few days. Nobody ever asked where the cows were coming from but the place was off the grid so no freezers to store meat. But that's OK. Nothing went to waste. I've been hungry before. It sucks. If you didn't catch enough, you didn't eat. Well, meat anyway. Usually had rice on hand.
Rationing and sharing was the name of the game.

There. I didn't use their name. But everyone knows who it is.
I am not a scientist, doctor or an antimicrobial specialist so I do not have to call it by some scientific title.

Seriously, I already know people that have died out west. The last thing we should be thinking about is catering to the left and their puppeteers. Why on earth should this even be discussed here.

The facts are indisputable. Unless it's one of those conspiracy things.... like everything else.
Who didn't catch all the info and video "illegally" sneaking out of China? The net was flooded with it. That was not fake. I especially like when it started disappearing then certain doctors and Chinese posters that leaked it were being dragged away and "arrested". - Quotations because we know they weren't just being arrested.

Their lack of action killed a **** load of people all over the entire planet. I'm mad. The whole world's mad. And we should be.

4 weeks ago the world was ending and we followed these clowns to literally kill the hottest economy in history ostensibly to save millions of lives. Now the threat keeps getting downgraded every few days and yet we are killing our economy not because of the numbers we are down to now, because of the numbers they were saying a few weeks ago. Do you think for a minute Indiana businesses and workers that lost their jobs would shut down then if the true numbers from now were known? I don't!

They have the public ridiculously scared that they are going to die from Covid-19 and yet reporting I see says that over 85% of fatalities have at least one other major health factor. The healthy adults need to go back to work, we need to adjust to limit exposure to each other, and protect our at risk population. Schools are already shut down leave them shut down. We must get back to work...

I have some questions for you....

    Do you like to live?

Do you want your family and immediate family to live?

If there was no clamp down and the general population was allowed to move around freely with nary a problem, then EVERY major population center would be like, or worst off than New York, the spread to the urban areas where there are less healthcare options would result in a unfathomable amount of deaths.

Hospitals would be full, busting at the seam, the infection rate would be astronomical, the death rate would be through the roof because health care would be over whelmed to the break down point.

How do you explain to a extended family member that you're sorry that their husband, wife, parent or grandparent passed away from complications of the Coronavirus because you're P O'd the economy has taken a hit.

There is no magic wand, there is no crystal ball to look at to see just how bad it would have really gotten. Would it reach the levels of The Spanish flu, we don't know, you know why?

Because actions was taken to restrict movement and the spread of it.

Too many stories of family and friends in New York who met for a wedding, funeral or event before the travel restrictions went into effect like the daughter who was a radio Journalist had a birthday party for her 90 year old mother. She did'nt know she was infected. Had 25 people at a church party for her. At least 7 people became sick anf two of them died.

What is an acceptable infection/death ratio for you. If left unchecked this highly transmittable infectious virus could have had the possibility to easily reach 50% of the U.S. popuation

    1. It doesn’t make it less precise. Facts are still facts regardless what name you give the virus.
    2. It isn’t blaming anybody for anything. It’s calling it by its original name, which was given because of where it originated.
    3. Just because people label you racist, doesn’t mean you are. That cards been played to death, so I’d rather ignore their stupid labels and not change how we operate just because someone may disagree with it and put a label on you. Anyone who labels me racist for calling it Wuhan virus, I’ll label an idiot. See? We can label anyone anything we want. Doesn’t make it true

ETA if you look through the thread I haven’t called it Wuhan, but I will defend people calling it that. It’s a name, not a big deal

Based on the now multiple iterations of our COVID-19 death model, we have noticed that, for at least some US states, there are massive fluctuations in the number of COVID-19 deaths reported each day. These substantial day-to-day vacillations are more likely due to an artefact in how statewide deaths are being compiled and then reported each day than actual fluctuations in COVID-19 deaths. As a result, our reported predictions – that you can view and download from the online visualization tool – are now based on averaging the last three rounds of predictions. In other words, what is shown today (April 6) is the average of model predictions from reported COVID-19 death data up to April 4 (model 1), data up to April 5 (model 2), and data up to April 6 (model 3). We view this as an important refinement that helps to strengthen model stability and buffer predictions from data fluctuations less related to observed epidemic patterns and more driven by variable data collection or reporting practices.
