It's still around. Just a week or two ago I saw it drive past and my wife mentioned how hideous she thought it lookedA long time ago around Indy I remember a van that looked like that wrapped in indoor outdoor carpet

That Caprice is nice!83 Monte Carlo is mine 47k original miles. The 69 Caprice 427 was mine but had to sell 2 yrs ago due to health. And the other two pics.....Just because their cool.
Ummm, I don't think that's accurate. It has been my experience that a "project car" is never truly "done". There is always something to upgrade, maintain, change etc. What you meant to say was...
You'll retire when it's done.
I know several guys in their 60s & 70s that still play with their project cars and race cars.Cool story! Gives me hope that I'm not too crazy for starting a restoration project at 62!
That has been my experience however this is not going to be a concours restoration. I tend to think of my projects as a rebuilding. I am anal about the details but I won't be putting the wax marks and proper coil spring tags on, and other stuff like that. I'll remove, rebuild and make it look as new as possible and replace. I won't be buying every part new. I will try to retain as much of the original parts as I can.Ummm, I don't think that's accurate. Thanks. One thing I have going for me is I'm healthy and relatively strong. I'm also very organized. First thing I need though is a suitable air compressor!I know several guys in their 60s & 70s that still play with their project cars and race cars.
You still have time
Growing up in a "Buick" family(grew up in Flint, MI) I really liked the Grand Nationals. Not as much as the older GS's but I still liked them.View attachment 188519
I was out with a buddy of mine in a modified early model Malibu.
We came across one of these before we ever knew what they were.... I got my *** handed to me.
Great car of the day!
I had an 85 CJ-7 when my now Wife of almost 32 years and I were dating! Now that the kids are grown and mostly self-supporting I have this one...77 CJ-5. Backroad runner, mild trail rig and ice cream chaser extraordinaire!View attachment 187505View attachment 187506
Not mine but the only difference on the Old's was I had Crager SS wheels with redline tires. It was my first car. 330 V8 with a Super Turbine(Poweglide).
SS was not mine, but identical in appearance. SS 454 4-speed. Sadly, the big block was not in when I bought it. Had a mild 350 instead. I was in the process of getting it all back to factory condition when my son wandered into the garage when I was installing new coil springs and said; "dad if you get time I'd like you to take me fishing." A month later the SS was gone and I had a boat. Don't regret that decision for a minute.

Got this when I was dating what is now my wife of 37 years. Sold it to pay for the wedding. Might regret this transaction a little, lol.

Camaro not mine. My Mom's. Kinda fun but not as much as the '67 Buick GS400 convertible she had. I was too young to drive that one, my brother sure had a lot of fun with it.
This is the only Fiat I've ever driven...6 hour in and around Rome! 2 cylinders, 16 hp and a non-synchro 4-speed. It was and absolute riot to drive. My wife and I were giggling like kids the whole time! This is my classic. It's a 69 Fiat Spider that's had a healthy dose of tuning applied
