All I know is that I've never seen so many of my friends who describe themselves as "conservative" complaining about not getting a bigger check from the government.

I do think that this is a war-like situation and one of the few times where government should be spending money.

The problem is that we haven't saved spending for emergencies. Not only has the government obviously been spending like crazy for decades, but they've discouraged personal savings with tax policy and with low interest rates.

You cant keep a population in check and control if they are independent of their government. Thus the government will do everything in its power and beyond to enslave its people.

In other news a stabbed British COVID research scientist on sedatives plunged to his death from a building in Russia.
And in France you won't be able to ride the bus without a vaccination.

Defenestration seems to quite a common hazard in Russia

To all appearances virus and in particular biowarfare experts seem to be particularly prone to violent ends.

How does a railing make a weapon system useless anyhow?

when it gets in the way of functionality

A railing on the outside of a sub makes "flow noise". Which an enemy can detect and then kill you.
So we have special holes for posts. But the holes make noise. So they are designed to be covered. Which means if you're going topside for something quick, you aren't installing the railings.
And if you are installing the railings, well, they're just poles stuck in holes. So they don't really work real well. You never grab them on purpose, you might go over the side.

Railings limit access to machinery. In emergencies, that access is critical. You could design the equipment better, but space is kind of a BIG consideration, esp on subs.

Same thing at work. machinery and cranes move and smash stuff.
Railings are placed near pits. people forget to lower the rails, auto stuff fails to lower the rails, or there's an emergency and no time to lower the rails, and the railings get smashed.
    hundreds of times.
Even if the railing is up, you have to wonder if it's okay.

In another part of the mill, the atmosphere would rot the rails. So you were told to grab and shake a rail to make sure it worked, before leaning on the rail.
