I'm not judging, but I would never live in one myself. What I do on and to my property is my business. If I want to paint my house a different color, I will not pay someone money to either tell me no or tell me what colors I can paint it. Even the Amish in this area have gotten away from stuff like that.
Same. My only beef with them is them complaining about what they signed up for.
I feel very fortunate. My neighbors and me all communicate very well, They have never had a problem with anything I wanted to do, and I never had a problem with them, other than the meth head ex stripper across the street wanting to party with us. lol especially after my ol lady saw her chasing her cat only wearing a robe and not trying to stay covered.

No. She looks 30 from a distance but up close you can tell she is 65 plus with died black hair. At first I just thought he was a dirty old man for keeping a young girl around till I saw her up close and realized they were about the same age.
Most, maybe I'm not experienced in the field but at least in indiana I don't most starter homes have hoa's, heck even mid-upper class homes don't have hoa's here thats more big city or democratic states things, in my opinion.
Because of the bad humans can and will do. The constitution gave the people the right to create government while also removing that government when it became oppressive. The laws also give property owners the right to create a self governing system of covenants, restrictions, and an HOA to maintain them while also requiring mechanisms to change or abolish them.

100%! This is right! Most folks probably assumed the complaints were from entitled a-holes, what if neighbors complaining were in need of power for c-pac machines or other medical devices and the generator user was the one not looking “at someone else's plate is to make sure they have enough”?Philosophically speaking, being upset about being a "have not" is a you problem. No amount of keeping up with the jones' will give people like that satisfaction since they can't or won't derive happiness internally.

This is a waste of paper. It's my six year olds complaining that the three year old has something and they do not. The prepared person does not need to be considerate of those that were not prepared. They can choose to offer assistance if they want to but certainly shouldn't be required and shouldn't be sent letters asking them to consider other alternatives. The entire point of a backup generator is to account for the very situation they were in. Unless they are piping the exhaust from the generate into the neighbor's house they have no standing.
We do not know the particulars of this situation. What if the generator is literally less than 20 feet from the neighbors bedroom window. Many are. Is the CO going in their house? Your house? You don’t think the noise issues are a real?
20' is plenty of space to mitigate any CO, even 6' should do it. It's not a megawatt diesel generator, CO is going to be minimal. Noise is certainly an issue for everyone involved. But it's a smaller issue than the power outage. Personally I'd be seeing if I could borrow some of the neighbor's electricity to power refrigerators instead of pouting that I don't have a generator or that theirs is too loud. Even if they said no I'm not going to complain about what they have and I don't.

Are their actions opposed by a super majority? Simple majority? What do the covenants say? If a super majority oppose their actions get proxies from a super majority and send them on their way and put in sane folks the next election.
