Don't worry ... you'll be thinking about more lowers too. Good luck with the build. I've only done 1, and can say that it WAS as easy as it looks! The upper takes a few more tools to build, but the lower takes next to nothing. When you get the trigger group, look up 15min trigger job ... I...
Anybody looking into the .357 Herrett ... I've been wondering about that cartridge since Indiana added the carbine laws. It looks like you can trim all the length from the neck, and have close to the same herrett performance.
I had always written it off, since I don't know as which I'd get...
Yeah, the 35Rem is still going to have more velocity ... Keep in mind, the Max is also a "low pressure" pistol cartridge. I've reloaded for both, there's just far more case capacity in the .35
I've read a bunch of Mike Bellm. I can't say that I agree with his comments about the Max...
Very nice ... one thing to watch on 10/22's is to always open the bolt after shooting! I have very person experience with a death due to this. Ruger's chosen not to hold the bolt open after the last round (you can modify with a kit) ... every other gun does. Excellent rifles to shoot, just...
Wow, does everything in life have to be semi-auto. IMHO a S&W Airweight is the best pocket pistol out there! I just got a 642 from a member here (carried a 442 for years). It weighs next to nothing, has plenty of poop ... and slips in/out short pockets easy.
We've had 50+ family members shooting at the house many times, but I don't think I could open it to public. Not to be greedy, but I actually get nervous around other people I don't know with guns ... that's part of why I don't go to public ranges very often. Neal
I see people argue the same thing on S&W's. Typically, nobody has ever seen one fail ... they just like "old" parts.
In some ways MIM can produce a better part (not saying it has). Depending on the design, many time MIM parts can be formed into finished shapes that can't be machined...
OK ... so where have you been shooting at? Did I see you were building a 6.5x284 ... same caliber I'm set up for. If you're around Richmond, we'll have to compare notes.
Neal
I can guarantee .357 Max will not be close to .35 Rem! No where near the case there, but that's why the .35 isn't allowed. I get ~2100fps with 180g bullet, hoping to get a little more switching to AA1680 this year.
TC's came stock in Max, so no reamer required. However the local gunsmith...
Not the blame the shooter in this story ... but reminds me about a year ago. Amish kid bought a Savage 200 .308 to take on an Elk hunt. Bought it new from the gun store. Brought it back in a couple days later, gun shot >10" groups ... gun shop wouldn't buy it back. Out of curiosity we got...
If he bought it new, I'd call and discuss with Bushmaster. I've not been around many AR's ... but even the cheapest I think will put down <2" groups @100yds. Try this for the trigger:
15 Minute Practical Trigger Job for the AR-15
I've done it to my RRA NM and another military trigger. Does a...
Wow, that has got to be the best customer service group I've seen in years.
I bought a used Sightron on the internet. It arrived, and what the guy described as new, was not. Eye lens had scratches in it you could feel with a fingernail.
The guy disappeared, won't return phone calls...
