Food for thought: It doesn't matter if you're an archer, BP shooter. Crossbow, Pistol, Rifle or shotgun/hunter, we better speak with one voice. From what I've seen the deer is being managed to maximize income, not for the betterment of the herd.....:@ya:...<><Duce
I'm with MRP2003. Why all these season? Let's just have deer season use whatever the law allows and hunt from Oct. to mid Jan. Buy a deer license and tag for the first deer then additional tags as needed....It'll never fly...way too simple....:@ya:...<><Duce
Call me a low baller but...Last time I bought a rifle it was priced at $150. I was asked what I would give..answer..$80...He replied that he had to make some money..I agreed.. To make a long story, semi long...We agreed on a price of $100 out the door...Being welcome in a nice gun shop in Gas...
Since we've drifted a little south of center....:):.....Let's not forget Henery Minnie, pronounced, Min eehhh, the inventor of the minie ball. It made the Civil War one of the deadliest in history............:@ya:..........<><Duce
While the 11 most important guns in history is a good read, the most important firearm inventors in history is more interesting. Here are some I think that change history: Browning, Mauser, Stoner, Kalashnikov, Ferguson {first successful breech loading military rifle} Colt {percussion revolver}...
If you haven't noticed I love my lever guns. Right now , under the back seat of my truck rides a 336. It is worn , beat , the bluing is turning brown, it has electric pencil scribbles on it, the stock has hunter education stamped in it, the barrel band is stripped, the barrel has been shortened...
Range Time:
Got to shoot my T53 this afternoon. I took 8 shots, 1 fouler, 3 sighter's, and then a 4 shot group @ 50 YDS. Here are the results with Dunhams surplus ball, with the only markings being a 10 at 12 o'clock and a 72 at 6 on the rim, and a silver tipped bullet:
Still need to do a...
Quick silver works great to remove lead fouling. Just plug the barrel, fill and let it stand over night. Warning quick silver is the old term for mecury, posted this just as a curiosity. Kroil removes copper well and is easy on barrels.....:@ya:......<><Duce
I better clear some things up. When I bought it the stock was very greasy and the metal was had a lot of cosmoline still on it. The only thing that wasn't grubby was the bore which looked very good. So I laid out a little more than it takes to fill my truck with gas, and took her home. Once...
Found this at a gun shop in Gas city. After a lot of elbow grease and a little fabrication, ended up with something I thought I'd never own a MN scout rifle.....Go Figure...The Bore looks nearly unfired.....:@ya:.....<>< Duce
I hunt deer with a 1894 Marlin in .44 Magnum. I use Winchester white box 240 gr. JSP. The advertized velocity from a 7" barrel is 1180 FPS. My Marlin has a 20" barrel. I did some math to come up with a ball park velocity, out of a 20" barrel. I figured if the Marlin barrel is considered 100%, 7"...
In 2010 I took 2 deer at 125 yds. this was measured from my stand with a Busnell laser range finder. I was shooting a 1894 Marlin in 44 mag with a 2.5 scope on it. The stand was one I've hunted from for years and I had nearly perfect rest across a limb. The rifle was sighted in about 1.5" high...
OK I dislike paying 5 bucks to park, especially when they pay the attendants minimum wage, didn't cross their feeble minds to give the grunts a little boost!!! 10 bucks to get in, there's at least 3 times the vendors of most local shows. As far as the wheeling and dealing isn't that part of...
I bought $75 with about 25 lbs. of old misc. gun parts mossberg, mauser and a few odd AR pieces. Let's see 5$ to park $10 to get in $30 on ammo $7 treat for wife $20 in gas, now add the 1 carry he 5 divide by 3.147 multiply by .473................I made 3 bucks....I'm in the money ...I'm in the...
