So what does that tell us?Back in the day they had to cut of registration at 5000. This year there were 1400 registered.
Cycling and black lung go together?

Wow. On the one hand I had no idea it was that big, but that also quite a decline in participation. I was under the vague impression that cycling in general was on the increase, but it sounds like I was probably wrong about that...Back in the day they had to cut of registration at 5000. Man, if you could combine cycling with a Civil War reenactment, I would watch that!I've heard multiple explanations. Some say COVID killed participation, some say too many alternatives to riding now, some say changes in roads and traffic. TOSRV (Tour of the Scioto River Valley) in Ohio is now dead, mainly due to how busy and confined SR 104 is now.
There were a lot of older people on the ride. Most of the young people were either riding with their families or in big, fast pelotons of late teens/early 20s. Long-distance road cycling is not for everyone, and it's a lot of work and time to get and stay in shape.
Reenacting has the same problem - it's too expensive to get good equipment.
Top-of-the-line Litespeed is $12,000. Even mid-range is $4000
Getting a good Civil War kit is well over $1000 now.
My oldest has friends that ride downtown and one in particular that has been hit multiple times, broken bones and all. He carries and uses a glass breaker and has broken mirrors off cars. I feel for him, although I know I’m just getting one side of the story. But I do have some compassion.I don’t have any friends that ride bikes like that, sorry can’t help you. On another note an old woman ran a 4 way stop sign and almost hit me, I saw in time to stop. She stopped ahead of me and got out and came back to my truck and apologized! Said she had to get home to pee, lol. Told her no worries get home. Same week another old woman almost hit me head on, blasting the horn (both events in my car and truck) she swung so hard nearly hit a pole getting over. Theres stupid people out there no matter what they drive or ride doing stupid stuff.
No sh**. If you are lucky, you just get hands or a snootful of vitamin P. You cross the plane of my window/door and into the personal space in my vehicle, it wont end well for you. If you dont have a badge, its gonna be a VERY bad day for you. Both received tickets, the cyclist for disorderly conduct and the driver for passing too closely. The driver is fighting his ticket, which i think he should win because the only evidence is his dash cam footage wich clearly showed him slowing down and moving over. I don't think they could prove he moved over less than 3 feet from the video.
In any case, the driver handled it better than I think I would have. Once you rip my car door open and try to detain me, all bets are off.
Probably not a city kid scared of everyone! Why was his door unlocked?
Karen's in Park City, lolIn any case, the driver handled it better than I think I would have. Once you rip my car door open and try to detain me, all bets are off.
