My first handgun...and MANY more to follow in the years after, was Lengel's Gun Shop in Wabash! I loved that store, awesome family, and still miss it today! First handgun I bought there was a Ruger Security Six .357. They would give you a handful of ammo to go stand on their back deck and take some shots with a used gun purchase before you bought it. Just my all time favorite gun shop to this day and I miss it AND the amazing family!

Bought mine at a residence in Jacksonville , NC in 1987. A Smith 686 for $269. He was my good friend's dad and had an FFL from the time he owned a gun shop.

I also bought my first handgun at Fetla's, NEF 22lr revolver, I still have it. Had to wait 7 days and drive back out to pick it up. I still have a box of winchester. 270 caliber rifle shells from there somewhere I think are priced at 6.99 for the box.

My first handgun was High Standard .22 revolver. Maybe a Sentinal, I don't remember. I also don't remember which store it came from but it was either Swinford's Texaco or Lapo's Hardware on Michigan RD NW of Indy near Kessler Blvd. Bought .22 ammo at both places for less than a quarter a box. That would have been early 1960's.

My first gun was purchased at Fetlas in 1977 and it was a S&W Model 19 4" blued! Awesome store where you could buy just about anything and guns.

My first handgun was a lorcin .25 that my wife got me from the big r store in Anderson. She was pissed when I traded it in for a.380.
Fetlas went from a place that was a treat to go see when we'd spend the weekend with Uncle Dick and Aunt Shirley to a place I wouldn't set foot in.
Ludco? Haven't been there in years. Ol Fred won the 50/50 3 or 4 weeks in a row over at the Albany legion last summer. Only place I ever see him anymore.

My first handgun is one of those 'good news, bad news' things.

Good news is my first handgun was a WWI German Lugar given to me by my cousin.

Bad news is he gave it to me because he was going up to the 'big house' and could no longer own a firearm...

Can't remember the name of the store (it's gone now) but picked up a 6.5" Ruger Single-Six with both cylinders in Spring of 1992.
My second handgun was a 4" Ruger GP100 in .357 magnum that I picked up from 2nd Amendment Arms in Huntertown, IN in 1993.
My third handgun was a 2.25" Ruger SP101 in .357 magnum that I picked up from JTL Guns in New Haven in December 1994.
The Single-Six and the SP101 I still have today I still shoot them and still love them!

Bought my fist gun, a new S&W Highway Patrolman 357, 6” blued, at a gun shop on the south side of Ridge Road about 1/2 mile west of Cline Ave., just N of Griffith, around 1979. That gun shop is long gone. Of course the gun is not!

My first handgun I bought for myself was a Springfield Armory V-10 stainless Ultra Compact from Russ Elmore at the famous Elmore's Guns in Greenwood. Russ broke out his price sheet and showed me his cost.... he made $75 on that piece. So I splurged and added 500 rounds of 45 ACP, a holster, and some extra Wilson mags. That pistol started me down the 1911 rabbit hole never to see the bottom...lol.
