.... to offer tree-trimming services? For the second time in the last couple weeks I have had two different guys come to my door offering to trim my trees. I do have several trees that need trimmed, but I'm leary of the "businessman" that pulls up in a rusty 1991 S10. I appreciate their proactivity, but I am not a big fan of uninvited guests on my property.

They are just bus drivers trying to get some income during the summer months.
There was a lady at the lot that has a tree trimming business, has old beat up trucks, forget the name of her company though.

Not sure if they go out looking for business either.

I'm sick of the neighborhood kids/adults behind me cutting through my yard.

Because if they took out an ad in the newspaper that said " Convicted felon willing to do manual labor while intoxicated in exchange for meth money while inventorying your property for valuables and scrap metal please call -317-555-1212 - Ask for hacksaw. " they would never get any business.

Neither looked like the bus driving type.

True. Maybe I should have hired one of them. You know, support your local felon.

You would be amazed at the services for which people are willing to pay a complete stranger who shows up at the door. I could see lawn mowing as that is hard to mess up and requires little cash outlay. Paying unsolicited strangers (usually at a highly inflated rate--sometimes as much as quadruple the rate a reputable contractor would charge, and for substandard work) for sealcoating, paving, significant tree trimming, roofing, replacement windows, or other major work defies my understanding.

Frank, we know you would support a felon. You would give him a free ride, arrange free room and board, and set him on the path to free legal services if he couldn't afford his own! :D
