I carry a few weapons in rotation for EDC, Ruger SP-101 .357 mag, S&W 40 Shield, Ruger LC9s and finally a Ruger P345.

All of these are carried OWB in a good old fashioned leather holster. The SP-101 in a Simply Rugged pancake holster, the Shield in a DeSantis Avenger scabbard holster, and the LC9s and P345 in Don Hume H721OT tan holsters. I tend towards brown or tan leather and all of my guns are carried on a thick, well made carry style belt a friend of mine made me.

    keys
    Spyderco endura 4
Ultra fire, sure fire knock off (head in shame)
    GS5 in a UAG case
G 30 in blackhawk nylon holster, sometimes I carry g 19 and sometimes I use different holsters (bh serpa, cb supertuck) but I generally end up using the cheap nylon most often as it's comfortable to me.

    Tyler, that's a good start.

You need more lights and spare ammunition, though.

    And knives.

    More knives.

    Plus your med kit.

    i'm a thin guy and when i walk backcountry, I carry a S&W 360 scandium 357 that weighs 13 oz.
My pants fall down if I try anything heavier. I carry bear loads in it and it is painful to shoot. I don't plan on shooting it or practice shooting it much, but I carry it constantly.

CCW is too much responsibility for me to take on anymore. Never really know who the bad guy is.

Uhhh, why would you carry something you don't plan on training with or at least practice shooting with? Also sounds like you need a better holster and belt.

I actually do train with it, but I shoot 38's. She's a ***** cat shooting 38's. Only at the end of each range session do I pull out the carry piece and load her with 357mag. I know the issues of knowing your carry piece/ammo and I know them. It's just that I don't like getting hammered and developing flinch reflex. I shoot 357mag as my favorite caliber.

You're right on with that belt and holster comment. I don't have a problem when I use a separate belt, as an example. I've tried about 20 holsters so far on my treks and I haven't hit the right one yet.

I had an encounter with a javelina herd last fall in a very narrow canyon. I fired a warning shot and that pissed them off. then I hit 2" in on a protruding rock face and it splattered scaring the piglets. they took off and then the sows took off with the boars following. The interesting part is that I did not feel the two shots. I was concentrating on trigger finger and large tusks. so I think the training paid off. I shot what I had trained with in the midst of a tense stand off and it was dead on.

My expression came from a cop's training guide for backup pieces, "Carry often, Shoot little".

Clearly you need more gear. Especially lights and knives.

    And a gun.

    Did you make those holster?

Is a 19L a G17 with the grip shortened to use G19 mags?

    Yup, & 26L is my 19 chopped to accept 26mags ....

Yeah I built the holsters and sheath for BoB

Can you lengthen the grip on a G26 to make it like a G17 short? Heh.
