    Good advice so far.

What are you using this gun for?
protection? training? hunting? truck gun? fun/range gun? target shooting (accuracy)?

Are you shooting 100 rds every 3 months and then throwing it in the safe? Or run n' gun drills in the mud shooting 1000 rds over a weekend?
The truth is any quality AR (BCM, S&W, Rock River, etc) should do fine as long as you keep it lubed.

Most of my guns are for hunting now. As we head toward a Socialist society I have decided I might as well get one before they tell me I can't. It would be nice to have in case the lights go out I guess. I would feel slightly more warm and fuzzy with that vs just a shotgun. I plan on shooting it enough each month to stay comfortable with it and then it would be a safe queen for the most part.

As mentioned earlier. Keep it lubed with quality lubricant and maybe run a boresnake through the barrel every once in awhile and carry on.

10,000+ rounds without a cleaning or malfunction. Use lots of lube.

Remind me to never buy a used gun from you!

Some AR's like to run a little wet. Some dry. A lot of jamming issues can be ammo related ( I have 3 AR's and only one will shoot steel ammo worth a crap. Some issues can be the gun being over or under gassed. We need more info on what your jamming issue is to help find a solution. There is a solution to the problem.

And no matter what anyone says running a dirty gun is not something I'd do, nor will it solve an issue. That's just plain stupid and a good way to ruin your investment. And you don't have to clean it every range trip either. My gun gets cleaned if I am not going to shoot it for a month or so or 500 hundred or so rounds. What ever comes first. I pull a snake threw the bore and wet the bolt every range trip. With brass ammo I have zero issues. As a fact I have had zero issues ever in any of my AR's period (less the steel ammo). I have over 50k rounds threw one of them.

Let's get a little more description of your issue. Maybe pics of your brass. It's a solvable issue.

    I don't clean my ARs.
I just get them really wet.
    CLP is your friend.
No issues to report of yet.

For $700, you could build a very nice, reliable ar15.

It won't take much shopping to beat the price by a couple hundred dollars. Over the winter I put together one for a little over 450. All new parts. Not the coolest looking AR but I have a few thousand rounds threw it flawlessly. I will be ditching the trigger group though. Not the best feeling thing.

PSA makes it possible to have an AR for under 500 just about whenever your ready to buy the parts. Hell, you can buy a complete lower and complete upper for 500 and just slap em together, no building required. Im happy as hell with the ones Ive built, and the one I bought in the way I described above. I lube differently, not sure if its better or worse, but I use Dow Corning Molykote, an extremely light, extremely slick industrial grease with temperature tolerances of between minus 100F and plus 400F. I had a bunch laying around and thought it might be good for firearms. So far so good, I brush it on and work it in with a toothbrush, then wipe everything down, it leaves the metal feeling like a well seasoned cast iron pan, not greasy, as if the metal itself is slick. I dont really clean them too much, just hit them with an air gun, and boresnake the barrel. The lube seems to last half the year. I definitely do not think lack of joy in cleaning is a good reason not to own an AR.

I'm pushing 3K rounds without a good cleaning out of an A2 AR with no fails other than some Reloaded PMC cases that stuck in the chamber when fired. EWG and a quick spray of RemOil every week or so.
My only AR issues have been with "bargain" ammo.

ill agree that cleaning ARs is a pian but Ive found the ones Ive owned to function well as long as they got a quick wipe down every 300 rounds or so.

It's a fine rifle! Read: great rifle
some people like faster twist rate -- not a deal breaker for me.
Also, as others have said, you mught be able to do it cheaper by buying upper and lower separately or building.
all of that said, I wouldn't hesitate for 1 second to buy that rifle -- especially if you want a complete rifle from the get go, and one that's all covered by one company's warranty.

Also, it has a nice trigger

Cleaning is a pain but a nessacery evil I guess, but I don't quite think to the extent you may be thinking. Like Wsenefeld has shown they don't have to have it so speak just make sure run it lubed as other have mentioned. I keep all mine well lubed an I only clean the one I shoot regularly about maybe once a month an that's just out of habit from when me an my dad used to clean them together. Don't let cleaning them discourage you from getting one!

I have no experience with a RRA, but they have a decent reputation, and the specs on that rifle look pretty solid.

The AR platform is incredibly reliable, even when dirty. I keep mine clean, because cleaning one is relaxing to me, and I hate seeing one dirty. I blame the Army for that. But if you keep the BCG wet with most gun or even automotive lubricants, you'll probably not have a problem. I have an inexpensive Del-Ton that has yet to malfunction, and these days I mostly use Wolf steel cased ammo. For a little peace of mind you can knock the worst of the carbon out of it every so often and you'll be golden.

They're fine, but I personally would buy a Colt 6920 or even a Spikes ST15 for that price. The price of factory built rifles has really came down in the last few years, with the marketplace being so saturated with them after all of the panic buying / gun scares. I know a lot of guys like building rifles, and I did too once upon a time, when it seemed a lot cheaper. But I really don't see much of reason too anymore, when you can get a factory built one (by someone much more experienced than the average kitchen table gunsmith / hobbyist like myself) with a warranty and a much better resale value, for nearly the same price.

The only thing that colt offers over the RRA is possibly a bit of resale value. The prices on 6920's are pretty decent these days, but I wont pay extra for that pony.

As the title says....i am more prone to buy something like a mini 14 and a remington 879 that go boom without cleaning like crazy each time i shoot. Is there an AR that is reliable, accurate that i dont have to strip down and clean after every range visit?

J haves Anderson and because the metal is infused with R85 you need far less cleaning.
